Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, in the Sherwood Abbey of Sherwood Memorial Park. The Rev. Charles R. Doyle will officiate. He is survived by two sons, Tony Barbour and Charles Barbour, both of Roanoke; his mother, Katherine Upton Barbour of Catawba, and three brothers, Robert Barbour, William Barbour and Carl V. Barbour Jr., all of Roanoke. Graveside service will be held at noon Monday, May 13, 1996, in Sherwood Memorial Park, with the Rev. Frank Feather officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Lotz Salem Chapel. on May 12, 1996.1

He was a son of the late Carl Vinson Barbour and Catherine Louise Upton. Robert served in the United States Marine Corps. He was the Commander of Sons of Confederate Veterans Fincastle Rifles Camp #1326 for over 30 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann Wilkerson Barbour and a son, Robert "Rob" Wayne Barbour Jr. Surviving him are his son Edward Coleman Barbour; a brother, William David "Bill" Barbour and his wife, Sharon; several nieces and nephews. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on March 9, 2022.5
