He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Bell Eanes Smith; and his daughter, Phyllis Smith Hall; along with several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Charlene Smith and Rodger and Mabel Smith. He is also survived by grandchildren, Gene Woolwine and wife, Teresa, Melissa Elliott and husband, Joey, Kim Hunt and husband, Cliff, S. Denene Hannon and husband, Peter, Stacie Smith, Russell Smith and wife, Shelia, and Cassie Winfrey and husband, Cory. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Amber Piland and husband, Matt, Brandon Alderman and wife, Crystal, Austin Alderman, Haley Hunt, Victoria Hunt, Clara Hunt, Madison Smith, Mikinizi Winfrey, Raven Winfrey and Kahlan Winfrey; and stepgreat-grandson, Paul Davis. Alfred is also survived by his great-greatgrandchildren, Ethan, Bryson, and Ashlyn Piland. Alfred served our country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He was a Deputy Sheriff for Montgomery County Sheriff's Department and retired as a Sargeant from the Town of Christiansburg Police Department. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Cove Road, Roanoke. on April 5, 2011.1

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Lee and Margie Wood, of Henderson, Nevada, James A. and Shirley Wood, of Salem; daughters and son-in-law, Sylvia (Peggy) and Kenneth Hodges, of Roanoke, and Doris W. Spickard, of Troutville; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and devoted friends. Special thanks for their love and care to granddaughters, Jennifer Bailey and Karen Walker. A graveside service will be held in Sherwood Memorial Park. on October 5, 2002.1

Mildred Marie Keith Marie Keith Brown, 92, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with her Lord on Saturday afternoon, February 11, 2017, at Our Lady of the Valley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Henry Brown; and her parents, Oliver Ray Keith and Beatrice Beckelhimer Keith. Marie is survived by her son, Mark K. Brown; her daughter and husband, Anita and David Booth; a grandson, Russell Booth; and four nieces. She retired as Executive Housekeeper from Catawba Hospital and worked as Assistant Executive Housekeeper at Lewis Gale Hospital. Marie was also proud of her work as a neighborhood worker for TAP, helping the residents of Norwich to establish a neighborhood center. She attended Ghent Brethren Church and was a member of First Baptist Church. Graveside Funeral Services will be conducted at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.7 She was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5737 Airport Road NW, Roanoke, Virginia.7 She was born on August 1, 1924 at Alleghany Springs, Montgomery Co., Virginia.1,2 As of August 1, 1946,her married name was Brown.2 She married Perry Henry Brown on August 1, 1946 at Roanoke, Virginia.5,2,7,3 Mildred Marie Keith died on February 11, 2017 at Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 92.7

Spickard, 49, of Troutville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 2, 2009. He was born March 28, 1960 in Botetourt County. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul J. Spickard. Mark was a member of Glade Creek Lutheran Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and flourished when canoeing, hunting, fishing and camping. Above all, he was dedicated to his family, friends and fellow employees of his 27 year tenure at Cummins Atlantic. He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Diana Houston Spickard; his sons, Adam and Brandon Spickard; his mother, Doris Wood Spickard; sister, Vicki S. Millehan and her husband, Joseph; brother, John A. Spickard; mother-in-law, Jeanette Houston; brother-in-law, Layton Houston; sister-in-law, Cheryl Dearing and her husband, Steve; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Currie and Dr. Rogers, and their staffs for their care. Interment will follow at Glade Creek Cemetery. on October 4, 2009.3
