Mr. Bailey was owner and operator of Bailey's Cash Store on Old Eccles Road for 34 years, was a lifelong resident of Old Eccles Road and a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church, where he served as deacon, elder and trustee, and was one of the caretakers of Oak Grove Cemetery. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Willis O. and Kyle W. Bailey; and two sisters, Wilda Underwood and Sylvia Huffman. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Helen C. Vest Bailey; a son, Bernard R. and his wife, Brenda Bailey, of Beckley; a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Phyllis A.) Taylor of Brunswick, Ohio; a sister, Eva Wiseman of Beckley; three grandchildren, Raymond Swaggerty, Sherry Bailey White and Melissa K. Bailey; and one great-granddaughter, Rachel Morgan White. Services will be ll a.m. today at the Oak Grove Christian Church with Mr. Kenneth Overdorf and Mr. Dave Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove. Born November 5, 1917 at Marie, she was the daughter of the late Eura Edgar and Dua Foster Light. Ms. Allen attended Forest Hill High School and was a homemaker. She was active in the Foster Grandparents Program for 28 years and was a former member of the Democratic Women’s Executive Committee. She was the oldest member of New Hope Methodist Church at Marie and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Dua was raised by her grandmother, Nina Lowe Foster. She was preceded in death by her husband, Williams Harold Allen, one son, Harold D. Allen, Sr., a daughter-in-law, Sue Tabor Allen and a son-in-law, Gordon Benfield, Sr. Survivors include two sons, Michael Allen of Marie and Richard G. Allen, Sr. and wife Verna of Huntley, IL. One daughter, Judith Kay Seeley and husband Don of Hopewell, VA. Daughter-in-law, Brenda Allen of Richmond, Va. Six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and six great, great grandchildren along with a sister-in-law, Virginia Allen of Hinton also survive. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday December 4, 2017 at New Hope Methodist Church at Marie with Pastor Jay Bunting officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday at Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton, and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church. Hope, Fayette Co., West Virginia.1,7,2,3 Perry Houston O'Dell died on December 11, 1973 at Richmond, Virginia, at age 59.2,4 He Funeral services for Perry H. O'Dell, 59, of 403 Stanley St., will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Keyser-Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Kenneth L. Swank in charge. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. An employe of Auto Parts, he died Tuesday at 4:10 p.m. in a Richmond, Va., hospital after a short illness. Born Feb 5, 1914 at Fowler's Knob, he was a son of the late Homer H. and Rufena Huffman O'Dell. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of American Legion Post 32 and the Memorial Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eva Light O'Dell; a son, Rodney, Beckley; two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Ida Mae) Ford, Elmira N.Y., and Mrs. Glenna B. "Pat" O'Dell, Beckley; and two grandchildren. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be William C. French, Woodie Phibbs, Darrell Hatcher, David Smith, Gary Guilliams and Lloyd C. Carper. on December 13, 1973.2
