Born Jan. 31, 1913, at Mabscott, he was the son of the late Harmon F. and Emma Snuffer Bailey. Mr. Bailey was owner and operator of Bailey's Cash Store on Old Eccles Road for 34 years, was a lifelong resident of Old Eccles Road and a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church, where he served as deacon, elder and trustee, and was one of the caretakers of Oak Grove Cemetery. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Willis O. and Kyle W. Bailey; and two sisters, Wilda Underwood and Sylvia Huffman. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Helen C. Vest Bailey; a son, Bernard R. and his wife, Brenda Bailey, of Beckley; a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Phyllis A.) Taylor of Brunswick, Ohio; a sister, Eva Wiseman of Beckley; three grandchildren, Raymond Swaggerty, Sherry Bailey White and Melissa K. Bailey; and one great-granddaughter, Rachel Morgan White. Services will be ll a.m. today at the Oak Grove Christian Church with Mr. Kenneth Overdorf and Mr. Dave Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove. Born Nov. 8, 1943, at Mabscott, he was the son of Helen Vest Bailey of Old Eccles Road, Beckley and the late Russell Burnace Bailey who died on March 21, 1993. Mr. Bailey spent his childhood in the Old Eccles Road area of Mabscott, was a 23 year employee of Wilcox Manufacturing and Fairchild International as a certified welder and was currently employed by the Raleigh County Board of Education as a custodian at Lester Elementary School. He was a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church. Other survivors include his wife, Brenda Evans Bailey; two daughters, Mrs. Tim (Sheryl) White of Charleston and Melissa Bailey of Beckley; a granddaughter, Rachel White of Charleston and a sister, Mrs. Dennis (Phyllis) Taylor of Brunswick, Ohio.      Dua Eva "Marie" Light Dua Eva “Marie” Allen, 100, of Marie, died Friday December 1, 2017 at Summers County A.R.H. Hospital in Hinton. Born November 5, 1917 at Marie, she was the daughter of the late Eura Edgar and Dua Foster Light. Ms. Allen attended Forest Hill High School and was a homemaker. She was active in the Foster Grandparents Program for 28 years and was a former member of the Democratic Women’s Executive Committee. She was the oldest member of New Hope Methodist Church at Marie and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Dua was raised by her grandmother, Nina Lowe Foster. She was preceded in death by her husband, Williams Harold Allen, one son, Harold D. Allen, Sr., a daughter-in-law, Sue Tabor Allen and a son-in-law, Gordon Benfield, Sr. Survivors include two sons, Michael Allen of Marie and Richard G. Allen, Sr. and wife Verna of Huntley, IL. One daughter, Judith Kay Seeley and husband Don of Hopewell, VA. Daughter-in-law, Brenda Allen of Richmond, Va. Six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and six great, great grandchildren along with a sister-in-law, Virginia Allen of Hinton also survive. Survivors include his wife, Dua Marie Light Allen; three sons, Harold of Athens, Ohio, Richard of Elkhurst, Ill., and Michael of Marie; one daughter, Mrs. Judy Benfield of Phoenix, Ariz; one brother, Ervin Jr. of Jessup, Md; stepmother, Mrs. Minnie Allen of Hinton; one half sister, Miss Virginia Allen of Hinton, and nine grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Forest Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Shields, Rev. Olan Winifrey and Rev. Harold Swaker in charge. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Light is survived by her husband of 65 years, Orba D. Light; two daughters, Nancy Light Clark and husband, Kim, and Pam Light Shaffer and husband, Jimmy; two grandchildren, Dr. Pamela Marie Norris and husband, Eric Lamb and Amber Marie Light and fiancee J.T. Duke; a nephew, Breit W. Byrd and wife, Sharon; a niece, Linda Kiss and husband, Alex; a special cousin, Sarah Stewart; two grand-nieces, Bresha B. Mogar and Mechille Kiss; and two grand-nephews, Sandor Kiss and Britton Byrd. She also leaves behind a beautiful young friend, Mark Guglar and many special close friends.
