He was born on February 4, 1867 at Nelson Co., Virginia.7,6 He married Martha Ellen "Mattie" "Mama Williams" Goings, daughter of James W. Going and Gabriella B. Sarah Skinner, on November 26, 1890 at Danielstown, Cambell Co., Virginia.7,1,6 Thomas Albert "Tom" Williams died on March 25, 1929 at Clifton Forge, Alleghany Co., Virginia, at age 62.7,6 He Death Ends the Career of Thomas A. Williams. The friends of Thomas A. Williams, the veteran baggage master, were shocked to hear that he had died a few minutes after 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon. The deceased had been in ill health for several months. At the first of the year he had had a heart attack that came near proving fatal, but he rallied at returned to his home. Four weeks later he returned to the hospital, suffering not only with his heart, but with mastoid trouble. Everything that medical skill could do was done for his relief, including an operation for mastoiditis, but his end came peacefully with his wife and only son watching by his bedside. He was conscious to the end and showed that he recognized his loved ones. Mr. Williams was a native of Nelson County, but came to Clifton Forge nearly forty years ago in the employ of C. & O. Railway and had resided here since. He was born on February 4, 1867. In 1890 he married Miss Mattie Goings, of Lynchburg, who survives him, together with three daughters, one son and six grandchildren. The daughters are Mrs. H. C. Deisher, Mrs. Albert Caproni and Mrs. Philip F. Schaffer, all of Charleston. The son is Lawrence H. Williams, of Clifton Forge. He was preceded to the grave by two sons, Roland and Rayburn, who died in France in the service of their country. He is also survived by three brothers, Captain R. N. Williams, Morgan and David Williams, and one sister, Mrs. Thomas Bryant, all of Lynchburg. The deceased had been a consistent member of the Methodist Church for many years and his funeral will take place from that church tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, of which he had been a member almost since its organization, will attend in a body. On all sides are heard expressions of sympathy for his relatives and especially for his grief stricken widow, who has had more than her share of sorrows of life. on March 26, 1929.7
