     Thomas Altice Ayers Thomas Altice Ayers, age 75 of Union Hall was born April 12, 1948 and went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 19, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Cyrus Ayers and Audrey Irene Ayers; sister, Linda Tosh; sister-in-law, Linda Ayers; and brother-in-law, Mike Toney. Tommy worked at PlyGem (formerly MW Manufacturers) for 43 years, retiring in 2013. He was a dedicated member of the Glade Hill Volunteer Fire Department for 43 years. Surviving are his daughters, Dana Ayers Kelley (Joe), Crystal Ayers McGhee (Stephen); grandchildren, Cameron McGhee, Ainsley Kelley, Lauren Kelley and Caroline Kelley; his siblings, JC Ayers, Joyce Toney, Norma Jean Moore (Sonny), Debra Kirk (David), Gary Ayers (Dianne); and brother-in-law, Billy Tosh. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.³ He was born on April 12, 1948 at Franklin Co., Virginia.^1,2,3 He married Norma Gay Butterworth, daughter of Roy William Butterworth and Rachel Frances Poff, on December 18, 1970 at Franklin Co., Virginia.¹ Thomas Altice Ayers and Norma Gay Butterworth were divorced on March 9, 2005 at Franklin Co., Virginia.⁴ Thomas Altice Ayers died on February 19, 2024 at Virginia at age 75.³

     Jackie Daniel English and Marie Elizabeth Sledd were divorced.¹ Jackie Daniel English was buried at Franklin Memorial Park, Virgil Goode Highway, Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia.^5,4 He was born on June 4, 1947 at Franklin Co., Virginia.^1,2,7,5,4,6 He married Marie Elizabeth Sledd, daughter of Alfred Harry Sledd and Joyce Marie Poff, on April 15, 1971 at Franklin Co., Virginia.¹ Jackie Daniel English died on October 1, 2005 at Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 58.^7,3,4,5 He Jackie Daniel English, 58, of Glade Hill, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2005 after a brief, courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 4, 1947, a son of the late Roy Huett and Elsie Mae Lynch English. After graduating from Franklin County High School in 1966, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served a tour of duty in Vietnam for one year as an airplane mechanic. He was discharged in 1970 then went to work for General Electric in Salem for four years, Greyhound Bus Lines for 20 years. After retiring from the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Corrections as a Correction Officer for 10 years, he drove for Franklin County Department of Transportation and Abbott Bus Lines. Mr. English was also a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Wayne English. Left to cherish his memories are his two daughters, Lori Ann English Robertson and husband, Landon of Roanoke, and Lisa Marie English Williams and husband, Steven of Roanoke; grandchildren, Dylan Jacob Lewis, Brett Dagenais-Lewis, Keaton and Kali Williams. Papa Jack loved cheering Dylan on in T-Ball and Keaton for Basketball. He especially enjoyed taking the grandchildren on special "fishing trips." He is also survived by a special friend, Yolanda Delgado of Washington, D.C. A tremendous gratitude is extended to Lewis and Marie Bowling of Roanoke for opening their hearts and home to Dad in the last few days of his life in order to keep him close as they are our mother and stepfather. Dad was surrounded by love. A heartfelt "thank you" to Dr. Jose Mendoza and Dottie Lizzo at the VAMC and staff on the fourth floor hospital unit for your continuous efforts towards dad's comfort in his last days here on earth. Also to Advanta Hospice Care for their excellent care as well. Flowers are beautiful and greatly appreciated but donations would greatly be accepted as well to the American Cancer Society for research for esophageal-gastric cancer. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Pastor Josh Cokendolpher and the Rev. J. Larry Holland officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. on October 3, 2005.⁶

     Sandra Katherine Butterworth Sandra Katherine Gibson, age 63, of Cedar Bluff, VA passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in Bristol Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born October 31, 1953 in Bedford County, VA and was the daughter of the late Roy and Rachael Butterworth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Junior Gibson; one brother, John Butterworth. Sandra is survived by two sons, Mickey Gibson and wife Misty Sparks of Cedar Bluff, VA, Michael Gibson of Cedar Bluff, VA; two brothers, Sherman Butterworth and Roy Butterworth; four sisters, Barbara, Marie, Rose and Norma; three grandsons, David Hostutler, John Hostutler and Jacob Gibson; one granddaughter, Zoey Gibson; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law also survive. It was Mrs. Gibson"s request that she be cremated.³ She was born on October 31, 1953 at Bedford Co., Virginia.^1,2,3 As of November 20, 1971,her married name was Gibson.¹ She married Jerry Junior Gibson on November 20, 1971 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.^1,3,4 Sandra Katherine Butterworth died on July 25, 2017 at Bristol, Sullivan Co., Tennessee, at age 63.³

     Jerry Junior Gibson was buried at Gibson Family Cemetery, Whitewood, Buchanan Co., Virginia.⁴ His Social Security Number was 226-74-0625.⁵ He was born on April 19, 1952 at Buchanan Co., Virginia.^1,3 He married Sandra Katherine Butterworth, daughter of Roy William Butterworth and Rachel Frances Poff, on November 20, 1971 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.^1,2,4 Jerry Junior Gibson died on May 18, 1998 at age 46.⁵

     Carlton Ray Garvey was born on November 9, 1949 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,2,3 He married Linda Sue James, daughter of John Tuttle James and Virginia Frances Poff, on December 31, 1971 at Roanoke, Virginia.¹ Carlton Ray Garvey and Linda Sue James were divorced on December 20, 1991 at Roanoke, Virginia.³ Carlton Ray Garvey died on December 17, 2018 at Florida at age 69.⁴

     Vera Clemis DeVor was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell, Mercer Co., West Virginia.² She was born on January 27, 1910 at Virginia.¹ As of April 21, 1972,her married name was Poff.¹ She married Herbert Basil Poff, son of Henry Wise Poff and Rosa Emma Light, on April 21, 1972 at Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.^1,2 Vera Clemis DeVor died on December 19, 1985 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 75.² She Mrs. Vera Clemins Poff, 75, of Route 5, Box 438, Bluefield, died Friday at a Bluefield hospital. She was born at Bluefield, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward DeVor and Eugenia Tibbs DeVor. She was a resident of the Bluefield area all of her life. She was a member of Bluewell United Methodist Church, church choir and Susannah Wesley Circle. She was a teacher of the Adult Women's class. Survivors: husband, H. C. Poff; sons, Robert G. Lamie Jr. of Charlottesville, Va., and Master Sergeant James E. Carnie of Langley Air Force Base, Langley, Va; daughter, Mrs. Bill (Doris) Logan of Newport News, Va; stepson, Harless Poff of Route 5, Bluefield; stepdaughter, Helen Williams of Route 4, Bluefield; brothers, Edward DeVor of Orlando, Fla., Benn DeVor and Jack DeVor of Bluefield, Va., William DeVor and Kenneth DeVor of Alexandria, Va. and Robert DeVor of Clearfield, Utah; sisters, Betty Tibbs of Bluefield, Va., Beda Peters of Elkhorn, Va., Beulah Toth and Agatha Welch of Newport News, Va; ll grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell. on December 21, 1985.²

     Hazel Pauline Grimes was born on November 23, 1912 at West Virginia.¹ As of August 7, 1972,her married name was Kingrea.¹ She married Hosea Ray Kingrea, son of Hosea Lewis Kingrea and Sarah Ann "Sallie" Poff, on August 7, 1972 at Alexandria, Virginia.¹
