Betty Maxine Blackwell was buried at Stricklen Cemetery, Blue Creek, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.1 Her married name was England.2 She married Junior Ray England, son of Lewis Homer England and Lucy Ethel White.2,1 Betty Maxine Blackwell was born on February 5, 1925.3 She died on August 21, 2013 at Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 88.1 She Maxine Bowen-England, 88, of Elkview, departed this life on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, with the promise of a glorious resurrection. She was the oldest surviving founding member of Sand Run Gospel Tabernacle. She was an inspiration to her family as well as her church family. Those who knew her were astounded by her remarkable memory of phone numbers, birth dates and names. Maxine's many hobbies included sewing, cooking and collecting miniature sewing machines and thimbles. She had an extensive shoe, purse and jewelry collection. She will be remembered most as a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. Maxine was the daughter of the late Ransom Sylvester "Shorty" and Violet Ola "Mog" Stricklen Blackwell. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Delmas Bowen and Junior Ray England; son, Danny Bowen; brothers, Jack and Jim Blackwell; sisters, Madeline Grace Douglas and Sue Nida. Survivors include her son, Jack Bowen of Old Town, Fla; daughter, Jill Vigliotti (Dominic) of Elkview; step-daughters, Linda Raines of Elkview, Karen Boyd of Rand and Sandy Cobb of St. Albans; daughter-in-law, Joyce Bowen of Teays Valley; brother, Ben Blackwell of Pinch; sister, Pat Woodrum of Winfield; grandchildren, Eric Bowen (Jackie) of Scott Depot, Michael Bowen (Christy) of Charleston and Brittany Carroll of Elkview; great-grandchildren, William, Patrick, and Molly Bowen, John Daniel and Eva Grace Carroll and Bella Beth McLaughlin; step-granddaughter, Mindy Ferrell; special neighbor, April Strickland; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Hubbard Hospice House for their excellent care. Maxine's funeral service will be 11 a.m., Sunday, August 25, at Sand Run Gospel Tabernacle at Youngs Bottom with Reverend Frank Allen officiating. Burial will be at Stricklen Cemetery in Blue Creek. on August 23, 2013.1

Reese Dotson Raines was buried at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.3,2 His Social Security Number was 232-66-3135.4 He was born on June 3, 1942 at West Virginia.1,4 He married Linda Sue England, daughter of Junior Ray England and Mary Frances Carte, on November 14, 1980 at Pembroke, Giles Co., Virginia.1 Reese Dotson Raines died on April 5, 2012 at South Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 69.4,3 He Reese "Doc" Raines, 69, of Pinch fell asleep in the Lord on Thursday, April 5, 2012, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, at Hubbard House West, South Charleston. Doc was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a retired operations supervisor in the power house for E.I. DuPont; an EMT-D at Pender East, Hampstead, N.C; and a former employee of Poca Valley Bank. Doc served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a member of the Green Berets; was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman; and a member of the Elks Lodge #202, Charleston. Doc was a dedicated member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, Pinch; a Sunday school teacher; and sang in the choir and the men's quartet. The greatest joy of his life was serving the Lord and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dotson and Lucille Raines. Doc is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Linda; children, David E. (Carol) of Pinch, Greg A. Raines of Charleston, S.C., Melinda "Mindy" (Charlie) Ferrell of St. Albans, Amy B. Raines of West Virginia and Melissa D. Hodge (Jason) of Leland, N.C; and grandchildren, Jeremiah and Jessica Raines, Stephanie Curry, Rebecca and Megan Ferrell, Eden Hodge and Grace Ferrell. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with Pastor Danny Kinder officiating. Entombment will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans with graveside military honors by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin. Inadvertently, in his obit of April 7, 2012, his brother, Paul A. Rianes (Emma); and sister, Rhonda McClanahan, were not, but should have been, listed with the survivors. on April 7, 2012.3

Paris Workman officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Run Cemetery, Elkview. on April 30, 2006.3
