Her house and heart were always open. She will be remembered as a mother, grandmother, friend and, most of all, a Christian. Jan retired from Rose City Press in 1985 to spend time with her grandchildren, who she loved dearly. In recent years, Jan was a volunteer at Drs. Whittington and Whittington. Preceded in death by Robert F. Rucker, her husband of 49 years; stepmother, Edith White; children, Robin Louise Rucker and Joseph Franklin Rucker; and siblings, Ernest Clyde White, Willowdean "Willa Dean" White, Claude William White and Jackie Wayne White. Left to cherish her memory are her brother, C. Ray (Francis) White of Olive Branch, Miss; sister, Esta (John) Fletcher of Elkview; stepsister, Alice Young of North Carolina; children, John Robert and Barbara Rucker of Elkview, Peggy Jo and Randy Holbert of Youngs Bottom and James E. and Stephanie Rucker of Elkview; grandchildren, Christopher Daniel and Nicole Rucker of Fort Wainwright, Alaska, Amanda Jo and Timothy Scragg of Youngs Bottom, Tabetha Dawn Burdette of Anderson, S.C., James Adam Rucker of Beckley, Daniel John and Amber Rucker of Elkview, Jana Nicole and Brandon Buckner of Elkview, Joshua Lee Rucker of Youngs Bottom and Rebecca Lee Rucker of Youngs Bottom; great-grandchildren, Colton and Kimberlyn Rucker, Nicholas and Matthew Burdette, Ava Grace Scragg, Maci Elizabeth Rucker and soon-to-be baby boy, Buckner; and sister-in-law, Mary Lou White. Esta Colleen White Esta Fletcher, 75, of Elkview, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 4, 2021 after a short illness. Esta was born August 16, 1945, and was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Edith White. She was a Christian and a faithful member of Sand Run Gospel Tabernacle. She owned and operated Cassell’s Grocery in Young’s Bottom in the 1970’s. She later worked at Bigley Foodland and after several years of service, she retired from there. Esta made many friends while working at Foodland, and as fate would have it, she met her beloved husband John Fletcher. Preceded in death by her father Robert E. White and mother Edith White; siblings, Ray C. White, Ernest Clyde White, Willowdean “Willa Dean” White, Janet L. Rucker, Claude William White and Jack Wayne White. Left to cherish her memory are her husband John N. Fletcher, sister Alice Young of Hampton, Virginia; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. A small graveside service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, January 7th, 2021 with Pastor Marvin Welch officiating. She will be laid to rest at Sand Run Cemetery Elkview, WV. According to the restrictions of COVID-19 Social distancing and masks are required.1 She was buried at Sand Run Cemetery, 23 Sand Run Cemetery Way, Elkview, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.1 Her married name was Fletcher.1 She married John N.
