Service will be noon Tuesday, June 16, at Bible Center Church, Charleston, with the Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway. on June 14, 2009.3

Ellis was a native and lifelong resident of the Elkview area. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Hazel Ellis; three sons, French of Charleston, Blaine and Gary , both at home; his mother, Mrs. Rebecca Ellis of Blue Creek; four sisters, Mrs. Hollie Pettis of Rand, Mrs. Basil Milton of Elkview, Mrs. Harold Jarret of Pinch and Mrs Raymond Frances of St. Albans; a brother, Harry Ellis of Blue Creek; and two grandchildren. The body is at the residence. on December 28, 1952.2

     Mary Lou James was buried at Sand Run Cemetery, 23 Sand Run Cemetery Way, Elkview, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.1 She was born circa 1930 at Kanawha Co., West Virginia.2 As of April 7, 1951,her married name was White.2 She married Ernest Clyde White, son of Robert Earnest/Ernest White and Bessie May Hayes, on April 7, 1951 at Elkview, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.1,2,3 Mary Lou James died on January 19, 2019 at West Virginia.1 She Mary Lou White, loving wife and mother, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 19, 2019, at age 89. She was the daughter of the late John Tanner James and Bertha Ann Carte James. She was preceded in death by her husband E. Clyde White and sisters Hilda Carper, Opal Crowder and Wava Westfall. Mary Lou lived in Charleston for the past 23 years but spent most of her life in Spencer where she and her husband Clyde owned and operated several businesses. She was born in Elkview and graduated from Elkview High School. Their businesses included the White Oak Restaurant of Spencer, the Big S Market, and White's Construction, the Kopper Kettle and Bond's Pharmacy of Clendenin and several others. While operating the White Oak, she and Clyde held an annual Christmas Dinner providing free dinner for all that came to the restaurant and for the homebound. Mary Lou, a committed Christian, often hosted Gospel concerts at the restaurant, as well. She was quick to smile with a pleasant welcoming disposition. She was kind and caring, always putting friends and family first. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mary Lou adopted and raised orphan fawns, owls, and other homeless animals. An accomplished painter, she also enjoyed sewing and embroidery. She was a fan of WVU football and basketball and was very active in Roane County politics. Mary Lou is survived by son Stephen C. White (wife Annette); daughter, Nancy Stanton (husband H. James Stanton, MD); grandchildren, James Stanton II (wife Fini), Trevor Stanton (Amiee), Annalisa Stanton Feinman (husband Evan); great - granddaughter, Penelope Stanton. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 25, at the Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 26, at the funeral home, with Pastor Lee Swor officiating. Burial will be in the Sand Run Cemetery Elkview, WV. on January 24, 2019.1
