Jimmie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She would have been 100 years old her birthday, April 14. Jimmie was a member of Kanawha United Presbyterian Church, where she was the oldest living member. She was a charter member of the Tween Timers Club and founder of the Knit Wits. Jimmie is survived by her daughters and a son-in-law, Lynda Harper of Charleston, Judy and Jim Butts of Sterling, Va., and Sammye Sands of Largo, Fla; grandchildren, Jo Ellen Brown, Gail Nasca, Penny Sabolsky, Tammi Pritchard, Scott Hoffman, Charles "Chuck" Hoffman, Michael Hoffman, Douglas Harper, Jason Harper, Mitzi Beneck, Jennifer Hustead, Andrea Neal, Shari Robinson, Julie Jay and Barry Sands; 32 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 3, at Kanawha United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Amy Parker, Jimmie's great-niece officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church, before proceeding to the cemetery, Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home. The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice and her constant caregivers, Shari, Bonnie, Mescal, Mary and Jonathan for the special loving care of Jimmie. on March 2, 2005.3

His death was pronounced suicide by Dr. Goff P. Lilly, county coroner. Other survivors include three sons, William H. at home, Guy W. of South Charleston, and Carol D. of Charleston; a daughter, Mrs. James H. Knight of Charleston; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Ferrell, Charleston and Mrs. James Vaughn of North Charleston, and a brother, Brisbane of Chandler drive. on March 22, 1953.6

Lee was born Sept. 27, 1927 in Clendenin to the late Lucy Ethel (White) England and Lewis Homer England. He was preceded in death by eight brothers, Roscoe, Harold, Junior, Roy, Charles, Earl, John and one who was stillborn. A Mayflower descendant, Lee's eighth great-grandfather was Peregrine White, the only baby born on the Mayflower. He leaves behind his loving wife, Margaret; daughter, Joan (Jeff) Lyon of Maryland; sons, Mark (Roni) Gunderson of Charleston and Shane (Cheryl) England of South Carolina; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special daughter, Diane (Richard) Barker and family; nieces, Linda Raines, Sandy Cobb and Peggy (Gary) Fox; and many other relatives and friends across the United States. Lee grew up in the Christian faith, attending Sand Run Gospel Church in his youth, later becoming a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Charleston and Mount Tabor United Methodist Church in Pinch. A 1945 graduate of Clendenin High School, Lee was a PFC in the Army, receiving an honorable discharge in August 1947, later becoming a distinguished businessman in Charleston. Lee began his business career as an accountant with Pennzoil, later becoming the comptroller for Coyle and Richardson Department Store; Jackson, Kelly, Holt & O'Farrell law firm; and finally the Berman Corporation and all family-related holdings. An avid horseman, Lee was a charter member of the Elk River Boots and Saddles Club and the West Virginia Arabian Horse Association. He enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life, sharing his interest in horses, cattle, railroading — real and model — love of America, and faith in God. on September 23, 2014.1

During his time at the VFW, he organized flag appreciation school visits and graveside burial services for veterans including music. From 1996-97 he was the post commander of VFW Post 8516. Mr. England was very active in the Elkview, Clendenin and Pinch communities. He contributed a great deal of his time to his beloved Annual Pinch Reunion. He rebuilt the ground pavilion and constructed the new activity/refreshment building. He received the Sammy award in 1997, a good Samaritan Award for a lifetime of lifting the spirits of their fellow men. He was honored by the Pinch Reunion in August 2007 for all his ongoing contributions to the reunion. He also received the Outstanding West Virginian Award in 1995 from Governor Gaston Caperton. He was always proud of his Cherokee heritage and displayed a full authentic Indian headdress at local community events. He loved working on cars, trucks and small engines. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and four brothers, Earl, Roscoe, Harold and Roy England. Surviving: sons, David England of Elkview and Dwane England of Kenna; daughters, Diana England of Orlando, Fla., and Deana England of Charleston; three brothers, Orville and Junior England, both of Pinch, and John England of Greenville, S.C; six grandchildren, Richard, Jennifer, Milissa, Amanda, Jessica and Bryan; and four great-grandchildren, Tyee, Aidan, Nehemiah and Grant. Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, November 30, at the Hafer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Run Cemetery, Youngs Bottom. on November 29, 2007.5
