Paris, 86, a retired resident manager of the Watergate East who had lived in Washington from 1938 to 1966, died of cancer Feb. 26 at his home in St. Augustine, Fla. Mr. Paris, who was born in Georgia, attended LaSalle University. He was a manager in Washington at the Carlton Hotel from 1938 to 1947, the Wardman Park from 1947 to 1951, the Woodner from 1951 to 1961 and the Watergate in 1965 and 1966. From 1961 to 1965, he was sales and promotion manager with the Homestead in Hot Springs, Va.
His first wife, Evelyn Paris, died in 1959. Beckie was born 9 May 1924 in the Climax community of Pittsylvania County. She was the daughter of Wiley I. Watson and Hattie Walker Watson. She graduated from Climax High School in 1942 and married Lenwood W. Owen on 28 Nov 1942. She was a homemaker who loved sewing, crocheting, quilting, gardening, and most of all, cooking for her family. She was a lifelong member of New Bethel Church of the Brethren. She retired from Craddock Terry Shoe Corporation in Gretna, Virginia. She never retired from serving God, her family, and friends. Survivors include two daughters; Betty O. Davidson and husband William of Chatham and Susan O. Smith of the Climax community. She is also survived by her pride and joy, two grandsons, Jason S. Davidson of Jacksonville, Florida and Anthony “Tony” L. Smith of Chatham. She is survived by two sisters; Agnes W. Williams of Danville and Margaret W. Edwards (Wilbur) of Gretna. Beckie is survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews who were an important part of her life. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Terry L. Davidson; six sisters, Myrtle W. Owen, Hazel W. Oakes, Gertrude W. Linthicum, Eva W. Ramsey, Mabel W. Tomberlin, and Jane W.
