Sheriff’s Deputy Shawn Stephens said the driver was hanging partially out of the truck and was pinned between the door and truck body when he arrived at the scene. “Vital Link and Batesville Rescue were notified to respond,” Stephens said. “There was a strong odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle, and numerous open containers were found in the cab and in the back of the truck.” A wrecker driver, who towed the truck for the sheriff’s department, said the truck had sat in the ditch, in gear and with the motor running, long enough to wear most of the tread off a rear dual tire.
