     Mildred Ruth "Millie" Shaffer Mildred Ruth Shaffer Taylor Graves, 79, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family and under the care of Affinis Hospice. She was born March 30, 1941 in Charleston, West Virginia to Conard and Evelyn Elmore Shaffer and was the daughter of a dairy farmer. Mildred was a school bus driver and cleaned office buildings before becoming the first woman truck driver in the Eastern United States for Exxon. She also drove for Arcta Co-Op in California and numerous companies in Georgia before retiring in 2010. Mildred loved animals, children, to garden, be outdoors and her Chihuahua, Daphne. She was a stern person with a giving heart who would help anyone and is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debra Taylor Hiland and husband, Pat Hiland and a brother, Edward Thomas Shaffer. Mildred is survived by: Children, Pamela Mann of Glennville, GA, Cindy Taylor-Spivey (Rick) of Vidalia, GA; Siblings, Harrison Shaffer (Sandy) of Glennville, GA, Wanda Qualls (Jim) of Teays Valley, WV; Grandchildren, Robbie Lowe of Collins, GA, David Taylor of Glennville, GA, William Mann IV (Misty) of Glennville, GA, Great-Grandchildren, David Taylor, Jr, Preston Lowe, Caitlyn Lowe, Clayton Driggers, JR Lowe; Special Friend, Heath Dasher, several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.³ Her married name was Graves.³ She married Unknown Graves.³ Mildred Ruth "Millie" Shaffer was born on March 30, 1941 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.³ As of August 31, 1958,her married name was Taylor.⁴ She married Edwin Hampton Taylor on August 31, 1958 at Big Chimney, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.⁴ Mildred Ruth "Millie" Shaffer died on December 25, 2020 at Glennville, Tattnall Co., Georgia, at age 79.³

She was a Christian, a member of Faith Rebekah Lodge, LAPM of WV. She was also a member of the VFW, the Ladies Auxiliary of Pinch Fire Department and the CB Club. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Roger Elmore. Cora is survived by her daughters, Regina Anderson and Charollette Young; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Moales officiating. on August 29, 2011.³

Surviving are her son, Carl Mullins of Clendenin and Russell Mullins of Elkview; daughter, Patricia Weese of Charleston; mother, Gertrude Elmore Mooney of St. Albans; ex-husband, Cecil Mullins of Clendenin; brother, Woodrow Mooney of South Charleston and Marvin Mooney of Roanoke, Va; sisters, Mary McClanahan of Hurricane, Sheirlein Good of Clendenin and Christina Groff of Yemassee, S.C; and grandchildren, Jason, Jonathan, Jessica and Dusty. Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at the Hafer Funeral Home Chapel, Elkview, with the Rev. Lee Elmore and the Rev. James Myers officiating. Burial will be in Elmore Memorial Cemetery, Dutch Ridge. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Hafer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
