He was born Aug. 14, 1942, in Randolph County, the son of the late Ray and Marie Sturm Loudin. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Vonda Fluharty Loudin; two daughters, Marie Collins of Mt. Clare and Becky Loudin of Shinnston; three stepchildren, Shelley Hopple of Sunbury, Pa., Jeanette Stevens of Fairmont and William Eddy of Fairmont; seven grandchildren, Emily Eddy, Megan Collins, Marissa Collins, Bobby Stevens IV, Joshua Stevens, Sydney Eddy and Courtney Eddy; and eight brothers and sisters, John Loudin of Theodore, Ala., Betty Kirkpatrick of Charleston, Margaret Ann Miller of Sebastian, Fla., Mary Lou Daniels of Flemington, Fla., Sara Hinkle of Elkins, Bill Loudin of New Carlisle, Ohio, Judy Hedrick of Salem, Ohio, and Danny Loudin of Norton. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Matthew Blake Eddy; two brothers, Jim Loudin and Bobby Jo Loudin; and one infant sister, Nancy Loudin.
The Rev. Loudin was a minister and was ordained at Duke University. He served as a Methodist minister in Lewis County, Mannington and Logansport. He then served as the minister of the Plum Run Baptist Church. He became an independent minister serving the Messiah’s Mission in Mannington until his health no longer permitted it. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War and served two tours of duty. He was employed at Jennings Gum as a heavy equipment operator and also for Barber Coal Co. for several years. He worked for the West Virginia Department of Highways and served as a deputy sheriff in Lewis County from 1969-71.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Randolph County. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and telling jokes. He loved to be around people. Friends may call at the Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, from 2 p.m.to 9 p.m. Saturday and on Sunday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday officiated by Ron Ashcraft. Burial will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery at Grafton.
