He is survived by children, Mary Susan Carr, Janette McCourt, Carl Short, Oneda Schiefer and husband, Frank, Terry Short and wife, Shirley; stepsons, Randall Holbert and wife, Dovie and Henry Holbert and wife, Susan; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was a World War II Army veteran in the European Theater (Italy), where he received a Bronze Star. He was a member for over 50 years of Local Union #1353 and a member of the Charity Baptist Church. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Charity Baptist Church, Wilsie with Pastor George Rose and Roger Carter officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Hughes Cemetery, Wilsie. on April 17, 2015.³

Genevieve and Howard were members of the Pinch Ridge Memorial Church and faithfully served the Lord through gospel singing, witnessing and ministering to those in need. After more than 50 years of uniting as one to serve the Lord on earth, they are now reunited in Heaven. Genevieve was born Jan. 6, 1929. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Elmore, who passed away on Sept. 1, 1996; parents; and two sisters. Mrs. Elmore is survived by her daughter, Jane Johnstone and her husband James of Charleston; and her son, Robert Elmore and his wife Susan of Hartwell, Neb. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christina Johnstone and daughter Kathryn and Adam Johnstone. Funeral services will be held at Myers Funeral Home in Elkview with the Rev. Hubert Woods officiating. Services will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, with a burial service following at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Walton. on May 27, 2007.²

Born July 13, 1928, in Frame, W.Va., Jim moved to Lakeland one year ago from St. Albans, W.Va., where he retired from Union Carbide Corporation as an insulator with over 30 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and an elder in the Presbyterian Church in West Virginia. He also attended Bible Presbyterian Church, Lakeland. A former member of a Barbershop Quartet, Jim enjoyed travel, bowling, golf, hunting and fishing. A beloved husband, father and grandfather, he will be missed. Mr. Jarvis is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eloise Jarvis of Lakeland; sons, Jim Jarvis of Twin City, Ga., and Jay Jarvis of Lakeland; brother, John Jarvis of Scott Depot, W.Va; grandson, Joshua Jarvis; and granddaughters, Julia Jarvis, Jackie Jarvis and Angel Jarvis. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Faith Presbyterian Church, 5315 Koontz Drive, Cross Lanes, WV 25313.
