He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Geneva; his parents, Simeon and Jasey Bryson; and his sister, Wilda Johnson. Bill leaves behind his sister, Iris and her husband, William Wiltshire of Richmond, Va; two sisters-in-law, Treva Cannaday of Floyd, Va. and Gloria Hollandsworth of Roanoke, Va; and his two godchildren, Brian Cody and Jason Cody, both of Poolesville, Md. He also leaves behind many devoted nieces, nephews and friends. Bill was a decorated veteran of World War II where he served as a medical technician with the 129th General Hospital, and as a military police (MP) while stationed in England. After the War he attended VA Tech (VPI). He worked as a Roofer his entire career and was a member of Local 185. Bill loved to travel in the United States and enjoyed bowling. His most favorite pastime was eating especially desserts. Bill was a devoted Hokie fan and devoted many years to directing parking and traffic for the home games, as well as attending all home and Bowl games. He was also very active in VFW Post 5311 where he served as Chaplin for many years, and was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge #20 in Blacksburg, and also a lifetime member of the American Legion. He was a life member of North Fork Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent. He loved life and could always be counted on for his wit and wisdom. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016, from 1 until 3 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 11 a.m. at North Fork Baptist Church, 905 Lusters Gate Rd, Blacksburg, with Pastor Rusty Mullins and Pastor Fred Bruger officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Bill's name may be made to North Fork Baptist Church. Arrangements with Horne Funeral Home & Crematory. on November 17, 2016.4

She was preceded in death by her parents, Early and Gerusha Hollandsworth of Indian Valley, Va; one sister, Gaye Buckner and brother-in-law, Marchie Buckner of Floyd, Va; and two brothers, L. Monroe Hollandsworth of Leesburg, Va. and Melvin Hollandsworth of Indian Valley, Va. She was the beloved wife of William "Doc Bill" Bryson of Christiansburg, Va. for 47 wonderful years. Also surviving are two sisters and brothers-in-law, Treva and the late Warren Cannaday of Willis, Va., Sharlene and Russell West of Poolesville, Md., and one brother, Everett and Gloria Hollandsworth of Salem, Va; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Hall of Indian Valley and Patricia Hall of Leesburg; Bill's sister, Iris Wiltshire and husband William of Richmond, Va; two Godsons, Brian and Jason Cody, both of Gaithersburg, Md. Geneva was truly loved by many nieces and nephews. She was a devoted member of the Northfork Baptist Church for 47 years and was employed by Imperial Reading (Blue Ridge) Overall Factory in Christiansburg, Va. for 44 years. The family will receive friends at Horne Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2003 in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Fred Brugger and Rev. Olen Gardner, with interment to follow in the North Fork Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the North Fork Baptist Church. The Bryson family is being served by Horne Funeral & Cremation Service, Christiansburg, Va. (382-2612) on November 29, 2003.2
