The family will receive friends on Friday, May 27, 2011, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Gearheart Cemetery in Elliston, Va., with Pastor Dusty Etter officiating. on May 27, 2011.2

     Ricky Lee "Trick" Furrow Ricky Lee “Trick” Furrow, 53 of the Ironto side of Elliston passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017. Preceding him in death are his parents, Alvin and Loretta Furrow; sisters, Sandra Akers and Pamela Price; brothers, Frank and Wade Furrow. Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his children, Tiffany (Jeffrey) Ratcliffe and Daniel Furrow; grandchildren, Jacob, Hailey and Hunter Ratcliffe and Harmony Furrow; sister, Tammy Walters, along with nephews, Derek Price and Dillon Walters and a niece, Samantha Shepherd; as well as a special cousin Tonya Furrow who was more like a sister. Ricky Furrow was a very hard working country boy who would drop everything to help someone out. He loved camping, fishing, friends and family. He had a very loving, strong heart and will be missed by all. Ricky’s friends and family are welcome to remember his life on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 4:00 pm at his home 2745 Trooper Lane, on Reesedale Road in Elliston. In lieu of flowers monetary donations will be accepted. Pastor Dusty Etter will be officiating.      Oman Lee East Oman Lee East, 62, of Huddleston, passed into eternity just as the sun was rising on Easter Sunday morning, April 24, 2011, after fighting a battle with brain cancer since 2004. Known to most as Lee, he was a Pharmacist for many years at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and CVS Pharmacy. Lee traveled the world with his wife of 30 years, Cynthia, eventually retiring to Akumal, Mexico. He enjoyed talking about their trips together and all they'd seen. Lee was an avid scuba diver, enjoyed golf and softball, had great appreciation for nature, and a gift for writing and photography. He remained positive throughout all he endured and enjoyed entertaining those around him with never ending attempts of humor. Lee was predeceased by his parents, Blondyne Cook East and Harrison East. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Cynthia Jarrett East; and K-9 companion and service dog, Nube (Spanish for Cloud); brothers, Harrison East Jr. and wife, Joyce, Mike East and wife, Jane, and Tommy East and wife, Lori; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norman and Carol Jarrett; brothersin-law, Danny Jarrett and wife, Renée, and Mark Jarrett and wife, Katrina; nieces and nephews, Eric East and wife, Jennifer, Hallie East, Sabrina East, Meagan East, Krylan East, Anna East, Eliza East, Jacob Jarrett and wife, Brooke, Emily Jarrett Holler and husband, Chris, Justin Jarrett and Cathryn Jarrett; special friend and care taker, Janet Amos; and many other friends and loved ones. Special thanks go out to the doctors and staff at the Preston Brain Tumor Center at Duke Medical Center, Dr. P.      Billy Eugene Basham Billy Eugene "Bill" Basham, Sep 24, 1933 - Apr 3, 2024. On Wednesday April 3, 2024, Billy Eugene Basham of Shawsville, Va. went to his everlasting home entering into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Bill’s relationship with the Lord defined his life. For over fifty years he served as a deacon and trustee at Big Spring Baptist Church in Elliston, Va. Bill served two years in the United States Army 44th Field Artillery Battalion. He dedicated 36 years of service at Electro-Tec Corp. in Blacksburg, Va. working as a machinist, retiring in 1995. Bill was born in Boissevain, Va. to the late James Noah and Lottie Moses Basham. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, James Donald “Jimmy” Basham and Ward Thomas “Tommy” Basham; his sisters, Mildred Aliff Walters, Mary Lee Cline, and Geraldine Basham. Bill was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be missed by his family whom he dearly loved. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Oleta “Pete” Basham; his daughters, Linda Fagg and son-in-law, Mason; Lisa McLaren and son-in-law, John; five grandchildren, Erin Carroll (Nathan), Derek Fagg (Kendra), Tyler Fagg (Erika), Eric McLaren (Chelsea), and Lauren McLaren; seven great grandchildren, Julia and Mason Carroll, Addison and Elliott Fagg, Elyse and Ryah Fagg, Oliver and new baby McLaren, due this fall; brother, Richard Cleon Basham; and sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Perdue (Ted) and Carolyn Helms (Tommy); and many nieces and nephews.
