Virginia Irene Martin Virginia Irene Jones, 88, of Pearisburg, Va., departed this life on Sunday, November 1, 2020, in the care of Heritage Hall Health and Rehab in Rich Creek. Born in Giles Co. on August 9, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Jim Mac and Mary Mae Collins Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Minor Jones and her brothers, Jim Martin and Bob Martin. Virginia was a faithful member of the Shaver Memorial Church in Pearisburg and also retired from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. Virginia is survived by her brother, Tom Martin of Pearisburg; her nieces and nephews, Tina Martin, Ethan Ballard, Winky Addison, and Angelina Martin; and special caregivers, Tammy Kast, Aubrey Boothe and Cody Vincil. She also leaves a host of friends that loved her dearly. He was retired from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, and a faithful member of Shaver Memorial Church in Pearisburg, and a CB radio buff known as “DoDad”. He was preceded in death by his brothers Aubrey (Jack) Jones, Irvin Jones, and his sisters Dorothy Noonan, Rachel Allen. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Irene Martin Jones; his sister Betty J. Vincil of the Clendennin Community at Narrows; his brothers James Willie Jones of Pearisburg and Kelly Jones of Christiansburg; numerous neices and nephews; Tina, Ethan Ballard, Winky, Timmy Addison, special caregivers and neice and nephews Aubrey, Cody, and Tammy, many close friends. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Mack Martin, Jr. Bobby was a retired employee of Pinkerton Chevrolet in Salem where he worked as a master technician in the service department. An avid Narrows Green Wave fan and a devout family man, he will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Barbara Ann Mullins Martin; four sons, Terry Richard Martin and wife, Jo Beth of Clifton Forge, Todd Martin of Pulaski, Robert Edward Martin, Jr. of Narrows, and William Christopher Martin of Fort Wayne, Indiana; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother Thomas Lee Martin of Pearisburg; a sister, Virginia Irene Jones of Pearisburg; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends. For years, Tom served his country faithfully as a sailor in the United States Navy serving in both Korea and Viet Nam. Her brother, Donald Whittaker and dear friend and ex-husband, Lawrence Thomas also preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Myers, Pulaski; grandson, Hayden Myers; father & his family, Thomas Martin, Pearisburg, Tina, Venus, Regina, Winky and Peanut; sisters, Patricia “Pat” (Ted) Neely, Dublin, Anna (Richard) Slate, Dublin; brothers, Tony (Brenda) Martin, Narrows; John (Michelle) Walkup, Narrows, Lawrence Walkup, Snowshoe, WV. She was dearly loved by her nieces and nephews Erica, Shala, Mark, Rachel, Jordan, Jason, Amiah, Nakenzi, Myracle and Jackson. Robin fought colon cancer for five years with a strength that was amazing. For over 20 years, she was employed by Volvo Trucks where she had many friends. Robin liked nothing better than to ride her motorcycle and drink a cold beer. She was predeceased by: her parents, Hubert Boyd Browning and Gwendolyn Coburn Browning (Winnie); her husband Jim Mack Martin, Jr; her son Michael Allen Martin; and her siblings, Aaron Alfred Browning, James Hubert Browning (Jim) and Shirley L. Browning. She is survived by: her children, Julie Martin of Narrows, Amy Davis (Steven) of Pembroke and Frank Martin (Nora) of Amherst, Mass; and her brother Roger Browning (Betty Jo) of Narrows. She is also survived by five grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.4 She was born on February 25, 1938 at Narrows, Giles Co., Virginia.2,3,4 As of July 13, 1957,her married name was Martin.2 She married Jim Mack Martin Jr., son of Jim Mack Martin and Mary Mae Collins, on July 13, 1957 at Narrows, Giles Co., Virginia.1,2,4 Emma Kate Browning died on September 20, 2020 at Virginia at age 82.4

She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends. Whether in Narrows or traveling, Jean enjoyed meeting new people. She was generous with her time, driving friends to doctors' appointments, and helping with Relay for Life and the Narrows Veterans' Memorial. She was a dedicated mother and a loving grandmother, who attended hundreds of soccer matches, football, baseball, volleyball and basketball games, church plays, and school programs. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Narrows, where she had many church friends. on June 28, 2012.4
