She was a graduate of Stoco High School, Coal City, West Virginia. Cora retired as an administration professional with Verizon and was a member of Valley Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Underwood. Cookie is survived by her loving husband, Randy Slack of Edinburg; a daughter, Sheri and husband Bill McMahon grandchildren, Wesley McMahon and Amanda Lombardi (Kahl), and great grandchildren, Jake and Ellie; a son, Jim and wife Bernadette Slack, and grandsons, Joshua and Caleb; also survived by a sister, Peggy Craig and husband Ronny of Poughkeepsie, NY; a brother, Bill Lee Underwood and wife Helen of Point Pleasant, West Virginia; a sister-in-law, Mary Underwood of Point Pleasant, West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. when the service will be held at Valley Baptist Church by Pastor Chad Estep. Burial will follow in Sunset View Memorial Gardens. on June 28, 2019.2

     William Lee "Bill" Underwood William L. "Bill" Underwood, 88, of Point Pleasant, departed this life to be with Jesus and his son, Alan, in the early morning of August 20, 2019, at his home. He was retired from Century Aluminum, in Ravenswood and was a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. Bill was also an official basketball referee, where he would run up and down the courts, well past 80 years old. He was also a faithful member of the First Church of God. Bill was born July 20, 1931, in Boomer, WV, a son to the late Robert and Eva (Poff) Underwood. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Alan L. Underwood, in 2015. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Helen (Maxey) Underwood; grandson, Garrett Underwood and granddaughter, Kelly Wood; his great-grandchildren; his sister and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Ronald Craig and Randy Slack. There will be a memorial service at 12:00 pm, Thursday, September 12, 2019, at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home. Private Burial will take place at the VA Cemetery, in Dunbar.3 He was buried at Donel C.      Lawson Milton "Loss" Hayes was buried at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.4 He was born on February 18, 1885 at West Virginia.3 He married Bertha Faye Poff, daughter of Robert Edward Poff and Oleva Barrett, circa 1907.5,2 Lawson Milton "Loss" Hayes died on November 5, 1954 at South Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 69.6 He Hayes, Lawson M. - 78, of Rt. 2, Davis Creek, died Thursday in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was a retired employee of Carbide in South Charleston and was a lifelong resident of Davis Creek. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Surviving are his widow, Bertha; a son, Edward R. of Charleston; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Goldsberry of St. Albans, Mrs. John McCallister of Charleston and Miss Inez Hayes at home; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Brendel of Fort Lauderdale, Fla; Mrs. Elsie Walker of South Charleston and Mrs. Carl Keeny of Charleston, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The body is at Degnan Funeral Home in South Charleston. The family requests that instead of flowers, donations be made to the Cancer Fund. on November 6, 1954.6
