     Hubert Willis Summerfield Hubert Willis Summerfield, 84, of Spencer, died Friday, April 4, 2014, in the Miletree Center, Spencer. He was born April 26, 1929, at Clio, Roane County, a son of the late Elias and Emma Justice Summerfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velva Oreda Paxton Summerfield on November 16, 2013; one grandson, Lee Michael Summerfield; two brothers, Ray and Eugene Summerfield. Mr. Summerfield was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a retired employee of Ravenswood Aluminum and a member of the United Steel Workers of America, Local 5668, Ravenswood. Hubert was a Christian who attended the Boggs Fork Community Church and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Debra of Ripley, Larry and Cheryl of Spencer, Steve and Jeane of Abingdon, VA; three brothers, Bobby Summerfield of Cleveland, OH, Conard Summerfield of Nitro and Jackie Summerfield also of Cleveland, OH; two sisters, Nella Faye Parker of Clio and Geneva Elmore of Cleveland, OH; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 21 immediately after the funeral service. He was born April 26, 1929, in Clio, Roane County, and was a son of the late Willie E. and Belva M. Armstead Crihfield. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Preston, and a sister, Hazel Mae. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 21, Spencer. He was retired from Pechiney Corporation, Ravenswood, and was a member of the United Steelworkers of America Local 5668. He was a former Boy Scout leader, enjoyed rabbit hunting and gardening, and attended Salt Hill Church. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Maxine D. Paxton Crihfield; sons, Harold E. Crihfield Jr. and Randy L. Crihfield, both of Evans; daughter, Joyce Waskey of Sandyville; brothers, Elton Crihfield of Manassas, Va., Carrol Crihfield of Big Chimney and Lakin Crihfield of Clio; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and two stepgrandchildren.
