A pedestrian crossing the Washington street bridge saw the man's body floating in the water and notified the fire department. The body was taken to the Wilson Funeral Home at Fayette St. and Delaware Av. Coroner Max J. Galdman said at noon he had not yet been notified of the finding of the body. At the funeral home, an attendant said the body appeared to have been in the water three or four weeks, but that no signs of violence were evident. State police were attempting to get in touch with the victim's family. The young man was about 6 feet tall and weighed 180 pounds. The young man was wearing a pair of army winter uniform trousers. City police were checking army authorities to see what information could be obtained from them. on May 24, 1946.2 He Fayetteville, May 23 - Troopers from the Charleston detachment of state police were in Fayetteville yesterday Checking with relative and friends of Charles Poff, 21, of Fayetteville, who was reported missing in Charleston early Sunday morning. As yet no word has been received in regard to his whereabouts it was revealed. Harry Reynolds, of Fayetteville, was Poff's companion when they left for Charleston on Saturday and reported him missing when he failed to return to the hotel room. Reynolds has since returned to Fayetteville, it was reported. Poff, a veteran of Pacific service with the United States Marine Corps, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Poff, of Fayetteville. He recently received his discharge from the service. The youth's description given to the state notes he is six feet one inch tall, weighs 193 pounds, and was wearing a brown suit, a light blue shirt, brown shoes, and was bareheaded when last seen. on May 24, 1946.3

Survivors include two sisters, Katherine Book of Indianapolis and Mary Virginia Book of White Plains, N.Y; a sister-in-law, Mrs. William H. Book of Indianapolis; a nephew, Robert M. Book of Carmel. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Abbott, William, Sheldon, Howard and Morris; and a sister, Dorothy Book. on April 22, 1977.9

Mr. Book was a retired vice president of the Reed Roller Bit Co. of Houston, Tex. He was a veteran of World War I and belonged to American Legion Post No. 464 at Bronxville, N.Y. and to Rotary and the Gripers Club of Loveland. Surviving are his widow and four sisters, Miss Lois Book of Columbine, Ind., Miss Katherine Book of Indianapolis, Ind., Miss Mary Virginia Book of White Palms, N.Y., and Mrs. W. K. Sugden of Portsmouth, Va. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain View United Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Arthur Rumbaugh. Burial will be in Loveland Burial Park. on November 11, 1968.4
