After graduating from High School, she soon joined Schiffman Jewelers, where she would work for the next 45 years, retiring in May of 1992, as manager of Schiffman Jewelers at Friendly, to marry Richard Nothelfer. Ann will be remembered by many going back to the infant days of local TV, when she joined Mr. Arnold Schiffman in presenting a program discussing the finer points of precious jewelry. She graduated as a certified gemologist from the American Gemology Institute in Los Angeles, Calif., becoming the 21st woman to have achieved this honor and managed Schiffmans at Friendly for many years until her retirement. She is survived by her husband, Richard Nothelfer of the home; nephews, Henry, Douglas, and Harold Deese of Newport News, Va; niece, Meredith and husband Wesley Harris of Reidsville; cousins, Juanita Penfield and Joe Gillespie of Winston-Salem; sisters-in-law, Miriam Hubbard of Clearwater, Fla., Virginia Berton of Alexandra, Va; nephews, Neb Bullock and wife Mabel of Raleigh, and Kent Healey and wife Vickie of Chapel Hill; brother-in-law, John B. Waddell and wife Jean of Raleigh; sister-in-law, Helen De Dominick and husband Nick of Norfolk, Va., and Anna Bullock and husband Norman of Warrenton; along with a number of great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, N.C. 27407 and / or First Lutheran Church, 3600 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, N.C. 27410. Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel is serving the family. on November 30, 2003.6

Gillespie Jr; and a sister, Juanita G. Penfield. Mrs. Brown was a member of Midway United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, at Midway United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Calhoun. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Brown will lie in state 30 minutes before the service at the church. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Midway United Methodist Church, 9795 Old US Highway 52, Lexington, NC 27295. on October 12, 2003.6

Burial will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolena Bowman Gillespie; five sisters, Irene Gillespie, Blanche Deviney, Loretta Brown, Mary Lunsford, Virginia Wright, and one brother, Ralph Gillespie. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Audrey Harger Gillespie of the home; two children, Dennis Gillespie and wife Heidi of Philadelphia, PA and Barbara Robinson and husband Fred of Ocala, FL; two stepchildren, Wes Harger and wife Renee and Candi Tilley and husband Ronald, both of King; four grandchildren, Arielle Gillespie, Aimee Gillespie, Brian Haynes, Susan Taylor and husband Scotty; seven step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Juanita Doub and husband Harold of Kernersville. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the home.
