They farmed near Sigourney and she was a member of the Lancaster Christian church. Besides her husband she leaves a son Kenneth Pfannebecker of Sigourney; two daughters, Mrs. Lee Kleet of Sigourney and Mrs. Keith Clark of Hedrick; two brothers, Fred Bensmiller of Sigourney and Frank Bensmiller of Hayesville; two sisters, Mrs. David Homan of Webster and Mrs. Gladys Richman of Sigourney, and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Miss Lillian Bensmiller, and a brother, Roy Bensmiller. on January 28, 1958.³

He was born Aug. 13, 1906, southwest of Sigourney to Peter and Barbara Ann Conner Bensmiller. On May 1, 1930, he married Viola Jacobs at Sigourney. They farmed six years and lived in Sigourney one year before moving to Hayesville, where they lived 19 years. They returned to Sigourney in 1960. He worked as a mechanic at the Chevrolet garage in Sigourney for more than 20 years. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Sigourney Christian Church. Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Kerkove and Mrs. Marilyn Glandon, both of Sigourney; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Homan of Webster and Mrs. Gladys Richman of Oskaloosa; and one brother, Fred of Sigourney. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, one brother and two sisters. The service will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Holm Funeral Home, with the Rev. Leonard Leslie officiating. Burial will be in Pennington Cemetery. on November 4, 1974.³

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Elsie Pfannbecker, Jessie Homan; Bessie Bensmiller; and three brothers, Ray Bensmiller, Frank Bensmiller, and Fred Bensmiller.      Edna Maxine Homan Edna Maxine Lemley, the daughter of David Henry and Jessie (Bensmiller) Homan was born March 2, 1927 in Sigourney, Iowa. She attended school in Sigourney before graduating from high school in Thornburg, Iowa. On September 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Floyd L. Lemley in Sigourney, Iowa. The couple from 1952 to 1953 were administrators of the Davis County Care Facility in Bloomfield, Iowa. The couple moved to Primghar in 1954, where they served as administrators of the OBrien Care Facility for 32 years retiring in 1986. After their retirement the couple made their home in Primghar. Maxine started Maxs Unique Shop which she operated for several years. Her husband preceded her in death on October 25, 2001 in Primghar. She remained in Primghar and moved with her daughter to Minnesota for a short time before moving back to Iowa and made her home at Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon. On October 17, 2014, she became a resident of the Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn. She passed away at Prairie View on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 reaching the age of 88 years, 7 months and 26 days. She was a member of the United Church of Primghar and enjoyed sewing. Maxine is survived by her daughter, Linda Strubbe of Sanborn, Iowa; three grandsons and their wives, Stewart and Stephanie Strubbe of Sanborn, Iowa; Shawn and Dannelle Strubbe of Paullina, Iowa and Shane and Rebecca Strubbe of Conway, Missouri; nine great grandchildren, Jordan, Sydney, Payton, Alyssa, Ethan, Dylan, Camryn, Grace and Emily; one brother, Richard Homan of Keswick, Iowa; one sister, Marjorie Thrasher of Staples, Minnesota; also other relatives and friends. Homan, 77, of Sigourney, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at Manor House Care Center after a brief illness. Memorial graveside services will be held at a later date in Conner Cemetery, rural Sigourney. Survivors include his wife, Frances; two sons, Jerry of Plainfield, Ill., and Rick of Ladora; two sisters, Maxine Lemley of Primghar and Marjie Thrasher of Park Rapids, Minn; and a brother, Richard of Keswick. on February 15, 2008.²

     Judy Ann Quesenberry Judy Ann Quesenberry Epperly, 70, of Oak Hill, WV died on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, WV. Born July 16, 1944 at Giles County, VA she was the daughter of Claud Quesenberry of Oak Hill, WV and the late Sylvia Ann Frazier Quesenberry. She was a retired saleswoman for Sears Monument. Her husband, Jerry W. Epperly and a brother, Rodney Quesenberry preceded her in death. In addition to her father Judy leaves behind one son, Lee Lafferty of Oak Hill; two daughters, Paula Reid of Beckley and Claudia Kania of Oak Hill; stepsons, Jerry Lee Epperly of Oak Hill and Charles Epperly of Oak Hill; and a sister, Joyce Cobb of Oak Hill. She is also survived by grandchildren, Tiffany Phillips, Charley Lilly, Chase Lafferty, Jacob Lafferty, Hannah Kania, Teddy Kania and Courtney Carter; great grandchildren, Candence Reid, Cooper Phillips, Barkley Phillips, Aniston Phillips, Molly Jo Kania and Olivia Kania; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was born in the Oak Hill Hospital to the late Ervin and Maude Martin Epperly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russel H. McClung, and seven infant children, siblings; Larry, Jerry and Ervin Jr. Epperly and Loretta Epperly Legg. Born June 4, 1927, at Fayetteville, he was the son of the late Frank B. McClung and Edith Henley McClung. He was a US Army Veteran. Russell was retired from General Motors in Detroit, Mich., where he worked as a Supervisor for 20 years. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by seven children and two brothers Bernard McClung and Ray McClung. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Polly Jo Epperly McClung; sister Audrey Young and husband Otis; six sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and numerous nephews, nieces, great nieces, and great nephews. His remains rest at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, 1435 E. Main St. Oak Hill where the funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012 with Rev. Ron Richards officiating and where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of the service.
