     Marcus Milton Beale Marcus Milton Beale, 82, of Madison Heights, passed away Saturday December 8, 2007 at Fairmont Crossing in Amherst. Born July 6, 1925, in Boykins, Virginia, he was the son of the late John Quinlin Beale and the late Annie Laurie Wilson Beale. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was retired from General Electric. He served his country during WWII with the US NAVY. He was an active member and past officer of the Moose Lodge 715 and a charter member of the Lynchburg Mineral and Gem Society. He and his wife ran the Amherst Co. Gem Shop which was located in the Lynchburg Community Market for several years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Margaret Rook Beale; his 2nd wife, Marie Gowen Goodman Beale; his daughter, Marcia B. Williams; two sisters: Orris Royal and Emily Marie Beale; and half-sisters and brothers: Leroy Beale, Carrol Beale, Willard Beale, Lucy Mae Bryant and Clarice Helms. He is survived by one son, Marcus Beale, II and wife Cathy of Madison Heights; seven step-children: Linda Carden and husband Casey of Lynchburg, Carolyn G. Garrett and husband Alvin, Betty G. Mertz and husband Jon, Barbara G. Moore and husband Steve and Geraldine G. Tyree and husband Donnie all of Madison Heights, Ray T. Goodman and wife Sherry of Concord and Patricia G. Wood and husband Chip of Forest; two sisters: Odell B. Lancaster and husband Jack of Rustburg and Daphne B. Coleman and husband Carl of Lynchburg; 24 grandchildren; and 35 great grandchildren. Interment, with military honors provided by American Legion Post 16, will follow in Briarwood Memorial Gardens.2 He was buried at Briarwood Memorial Gardens, Amherst, Amherst Co., Virginia.2,3 He was born on July 6, 1925 at Boykins, Southampton Co., Virginia.1,2 He married Marie Elizabeth Gowen, daughter of Edward W.
