She was a member of Shelby County’s Poor Boy’s Car Club, she was a member of the USBC (United States Bowling Congress), she bowled in the Brandywine Bowling Association and the Shelbyville Mixed Trio and was a member of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Shelby County. Rita loved playing volleyball at the Shelbyville Parks Department, bowling and working with special-needs children. Her coworkers remember her as a consistent source of love and positive support not only for the children she worked with, but for everyone who had come in contact with her. She is survived by her children, Courtney (Adam) Baker of Indianapolis, Devin Neal of Shelbyville, Biller Hatcher of Shelbyville, Derek Checkley of Shelbyville and Colton Checkley of Shelbyville; four siblings, Terri (David) Stanley of Greenfield, Deborah Moreland of Greenfield, Alan (Monica) Miller of Greenfield and Monica (Chris) Sexton of Greenfield; and two grandchildren, Milligan Baker and Charlotte Baker. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Rhonda Stanley. Visitation will be held at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, and services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the funeral home. Pastor Brad Davis will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield. on May 27, 2014.2

Survivors include a son, Donald (Carolyn) Davisson, of Elsmere, Ky; three daughters, Janet LaVallee, of Lima, Lorna (Rex) Ashby, of North Vernon, Ind., and Arlene (Terry) Delong, of Griffith, Ind; and 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Cloie Wisehart and Carol Lewman. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Condo & Son Funeral Home, Wilkerson, Ind. Burial will be in Harland Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, and from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at Condo & Son Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Rousculp Church of Christ or Shirley Christian Church.
