     Robert Allen McCutchan Robert Allen McCutchan, the son of Irvin and Isa (Harris) McCutchan, was born on a farm October 23, 1926 near Nelson, Nebraska. He passed away on May 30, 2005 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 78 years 7 months and 7 days. Robert attended the Bethel Rural School north of Nelson, Nebraska and graduated from the Nelson High School. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was united in marriage to Wilma Maxine Eckles on February 14, 1954 at the Nelson Presbyterian Church and to this union was born two children. Robert was a lifelong Nuckolls County Resident, a member of the Nelson American Legion Post #187 and the Nelson Masonic Lodge AF & AM #77. For many years he sold Cargill Seed and raised many types of livestock on his farm including Dairy and Holsteen cattle, hogs and sheep and his favorite, the one he helped his daughter Betty and grandchildren, Joey and Chantel raise were, Longhorns. Robert was an avid card player and was very proud to be one of the first area farmers to do "No-Till" farming and also raising one of the first crops of sunflowers in the area. He and Maxine moved to Nelson in 1989 from the farm and on February 18, 2004 he entered the Nelson Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and one sister and brother in law, Evelyn and Joe Luth along with a niece Jolyn Luth Walker. He is survived by his wife Maxine of Nelson, Nebraska, daughter Betty McCutchan of Nelson, Nebraska and son, William Bill McCutchan and wife Susan of Nelson, Nebraska. Two grandchildren, Joseph and Chantel McCutchan of Nelson, Nebraska and one brother Duane McCutchan and wife Gayle of Kingsburg, California along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers were Joseph McCutchan, Mark McCutchan, Jim Harris, Jim Menke, Steve Rakosky, and Gordon Meyer. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Ferebee, Eldrick Grummert, Arthur Sole, Frank Harris and Ralph Meyer. John was the assistant area manager for LT&T for over 35 years in York before retiring to Benedict in 1984. He was formerly Senior Warden at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in York before joining St Andrews Episcopal Church in Seward. He was a member of the York American Legion Post, V.F.W. and the Noon Sertoma Club. John also enjoyed camping, fishing and most of all traveling with friends and family. On June 27, 1954 he was married to Elizabeth Lyster at Greeley, Co. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Benedict; two brothers William Jr and his wife Alice Eckles of Lincoln and Phillip Eckles of Nelson, NE; two sisters Betty Jo Pittam of Mills City, OR and Maxine C. McCutchan of Nelson. Also surviving is a brother in law Norman C. Lyster of Greeley, CO; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers in law and a sister in law. Inurnment will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday in the Nelson Cemetery in Nelson. on July 27, 2006.⁵

     Verle Littrel was buried at Edgar Cemetery, Edgar, Clay Co., Nebraska.¹ She was born on December 2, 1911 at Nebraska.¹ She died on April 17, 1915 at Lincoln, Lancaster Co., Nebraska, at age 3.^1,2 She Verle, the little three-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Littrell, died Sunday in a hospital in Lincoln. The funeral was held at the home Monday afternoon. The many friends of the family extend their sympathy in their sad hours of bereavement. This is the fourth death in the family during the past few months. on April 22, 1915.²

He spent most of his time farming until the last 15 years when he was employed by Macks Trucks. He is survived by his wife, Jean; his children, Mrs. Connard (Shirley) Genereux, Hudson, Max Chinn, Henderson, Ron Chinn, Denver and Dee Ann Chinn at home; 3 grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Lena Chinn of Lakewood; brothers, Russell Chinn, Meade, Howard Chinn, Aurora, James Chinn, Charles Chinn, Denver and Floyd Chinn of Commerce City; 1 sister, Mrs. Dencil (Gladys) Wood of Brighton. He was preceeded in death by his father and 2 sisters. Pall bearers were Rene Martens, Owen Fisher, Bill Farshee, Jim Hazlet, Dave Collins and Sadao Yagami. on November 18, 1971.⁴

     Gene Lyle Nordbrock NORDBROCK, Gene, 35, of 6644 E. Paseo San Giro, died August 12th in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Survived by sons, Steven and Craig Nordbrock, of Lincoln, Neb; mother, Mrs. Clara Nordbrock, of Lincoln, Neb; brother, Neil Nordbrock, of Tucson; sisters, Mrs. Evon Rathbone, of Grand Island, Neb., Mrs. Margie Picard, of Connecticut.      Glenn Edward Obert was born on November 16, 1926 at Esbon, Jewell Co., Kansas.¹ He married Betty Albertis Adamson, daughter of Vernie Albertis Adamson and Berneice Mildred Kinneson, on July 6, 1947.¹ Glenn Edward Obert died on May 6, 1977 at Omaha, Douglas Co., Nebraska, at age 50.¹

     Duane Earl Skinner Duane Skinner the son of Glen and Lola (Adamson) Skinner was born February 10, 1931 at Nelson, Nebraska. He departed this life on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 76 years. Duane grew up south of Edgar, NE and graduated from Edgar High School with the class of 1948. Duane served his country with the United States Air force from 1951 to 1955. On December 21, 1957 Duane was united in marriage to Emma Ashby. This union was blessed with the birth of four children: Gary and Ed and daughters Gaila and Kim. Duane and Emma lived and farmed south Edgar until moving into in Edgar in 1979 and retired from farming in 1993. Duane and Emma were able to celebrate 50 years of marriage on December 21, 2007. Duane was a member of American Legion Post #248 for 53 years. In his spare time Duane enjoyed farming and spending time with his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and son Gary. Survivors include his wife Emma of Edgar, NE; son Ed Skinner and wife Robin of Edgar, NE; daughters: Gaila Skinner of Grand Island, NE; Kim Harms and husband Dan of Glenvil, NE; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held this Thursday 10:30 AM, January 17, 2008 at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Edgar, NE. Pastor Jeff Glawe will be officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in the Edgar Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9 am to 8 pm at the funeral home. The boy passed away unexpectedly following surgery on Saturday at Hastings. on June 16, 1966.⁵
