She suffered a heart condition. Mrs. Hoback was a daughter of the late Wilson and Jane Little Thomas and was born at Oakvale on Feb 28, 1886. Her husband, A. W. Hoback, preceded her in death. Surviving are four sons, Paul Hoback of Radford, Va., Silas D. Hoback of Dearborn, Mich., James Hoback in Arkansas; and Bill Hoback of Miami, Fla; two daughters, Mrs. Norton Jones and Mrs. Thomas Poff, both of New Haven, Conn; and four grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers, Troy Thomas of Narrows, Va., Elmer Thomas of Hellier, Ky., Beecher Thomas of Pittsburgh, Pa; and Raymond T. Thomas of Princeton; and two sisters, Mrs. Dimple Akers of Bluefield, and Mrs. Florence Beedle of Cincinnati, O. Mrs. Hoback was a member of the Kee Street Methodist Church in Princeton. She also was a member of the GIA Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. on December 14, 1958.4

Silas was an avid archer who enjoyed Field and Hunting archery and taking part in tournament archery contests in numerous locations. He was the oldest member of the Lincoln-Bowman Archers and was active until he reached 101 years of age. In addition to his parents, his wife, Elizabeth Lilly Hoback; and one son, Lynn S. Hoback preceded him in death. Survivors include brother-in-law, George "Bill" Linkenhoker; and one niece, Ruth Linkenhoker Boyles, both of Princeton. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m.. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the Athens Cemetery in Athens, W.Va. with the Reverend Randy Adkins officiating. on January 22, 2012.7

Interment was private, with arrangements handled by Roller Funeral Home. on August 25, 1982.6
