In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Virginia Mae "Sissy" Purvis; two daughters, Kelley Woodson (Clint) and Misty Purvis (Bryan); two grandsons, Hunter Woodson and Chase Ferguson; a brother, Kenny Purvis (Vanessa); two nieces, Christy Viar and Katie Harshman (Zane); two nephews, Michael Purvis (Tammy) and Ricky Marrs Jr; sister-in-laws, Martha Marrs (Ricky) and Doris Stinson (Gary); and father-in-law Robert Lyon and mother-in-law Arlene Lyon. Gordon lived life to its fullest and touched the lives of many, which can be seen through his countless number of friends. He enjoyed making his rounds to socialize and enjoy the beautiful views of Nelson County that he loved so much. His one-of-a-kind personality made you fall in love with him with just one conversation and his witty humor kept you laughing for hours even after he had left. Gordon was a remarkably amazing husband and father that was heavily devoted to taking care of his family. He showered them with love and affection every chance he could, especially his "girls."
Gordon was employed by and retired from Verizon. He was very dedicated to his job and served as a cable splicer and maintenance worker for 30 years. Gordon enjoyed his retirement by spending time with his family and friends that he adored so much. Interment will follow in the Mt.
