He was born Dec. 31, 1930, in Jamestown, N.Y., son of the late Forest and Vivian Breed Hulings. He owned and operated Hulings Blueberries in Edinboro for 10 years. He previously owned Hulings Bulk Oil starting in 1965 and Hulings Gas Station from 1968 to 1995. He also worked as a grape farmer in Millcreek Township for 10 years and for General Electric Co. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He served with the Washington Township Sewer Authority for six years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Hulings, in 1996; and a brother, John F. Hulings, in 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Hall and her husband, Rick, of Edinboro; three sons, Brad Hulings of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Brian Hulings and his wife, Janice, and Brent Hulings, all of Edinboro; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie St., Edinboro. A service will be held there Tuesday at 11 a.m., officiated by the Rev. James Patterson. Burial will be at McLane Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Children's Miracle Network in care of Saint Vincent Health Center, 232 W. 25th St., Erie, PA 16544. on December 1, 2001.2

Friends may call at the Harry D. Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie St., Edinboro, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and attend services there Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mrs. Whisner was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Reed, and was born in Highland township, January 1, 1856. She was united in marriage with Al B. Whisner, who preceded her in death several years ago. She is survived by the following children; Mrs M. R. Black, Miola; Merle, Clarence, Archie L., and Edward Whisner all of Clarion, and James Whisner, of Rockway, N.J. Mrs. Whisner was the last of a family of fourteen children. The deceased was a splended christian woman and was revered and respected bv all who knew her for her fine christian character. She was a member of the Methodist Church at Miola for many years and to her removal to Clarion several years ago when her membership was transferred to the First Methodist Church of this place. Her funeral took place last Monday afternoon when a short service was held in Shiloh Church at Miola being conducted by the Rev. C. H. Deems, of Shippenville. The service was attended by a very large assembly of old friends and neighbors. The interment was made in the Mt. Carmel cemetery. on April 21, 1927.4

     James Robert Beatty The funeral of James K. Beatty was held at the late residence on Weed street on Wednesday forenoon of this week. A very large number of friends, especially old friends of Miola and Scotch Hill, and about where he had once lived. The services were in charge of the pastor of the family, Rev. Willis K. Crosby, and Rev. B. P. Delo who was an old friend. The interment was in charge of Mr. J. D. Smull and was in the Clarion cemetery. Mr. Beatty was born March 16, 1860 in Clarion county and has been almost a continuous resident all his life. For 12 years the family has lived in Clarion. He has followed the business of contracting and drilling with success and was well known and esteemed throughout this part of the oil country. On June 22, 1890 (Jun 24, 1890 according to the marriage record) he was married to Miss Cella Simpson, the wedding occurring at Ridgway. Five children survive the father: Irene, Turner B., Edith L., William W., and James R., all of whom are still in the home of sorrow with their mother. The death was occasioned by heart trouble but his immediate illness was not of long duration. The end came quietly on Sunday evening. His mother, Mrs. Eveline Frantz, a brother, George Beatty, two half sisters, Mrs. Lotta Condron and Mrs. John Dolby, all of Miola, also survive him. Mr. Beatty was regarded by all who knew him in a business way as an honorable man, an industrious and good citizen. He was a kind father, proud of his family, and a friend who proved true. The sympathy of a wide circle is heartily extended to the bereaved ones left behind.4 He was buried at Clarion Cemetery, 2nd Avenue, Clarion, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.3,4,5 He was born on March 16, 1861 at Clarion Co., Pennsylvania; His death certificate and obituary have a birth year but the 1860 Census and the birth date of his sister Emma support 1861.3,6,4 He married Priscilla "Cilla" Simpson on June 24, 1890 at Ridgeway, Elk Co., Pennsylvania.7,5,3 James Robert Beatty died on May 31, 1908 at Clarion, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania, at age 47.3

     Jacob Smith was buried at Helen Furnace Cemetery, Clarion, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.1 He was born on November 24, 1838 at Germany.1,3 He married Eliza Jane Huling, daughter of Chatham Hulings and Margaret Rutherford, on December 11, 1861 at Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.1,4,3 Jacob Smith died on June 27, 1918 at Scotch Hill, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania, at age 79.2 He SMITH Jacob - One of the noblest of the older citizens of Farmington Township, Mr. Jacob Smith of near Scotch Hill, died at his home last Thursday, June 27, 1918, in the 79th year of his age. Our information is that while he had not been really well for some time, his last illness was not unusually prolonged. His funeral took place last Saturday. Mr. Smith was one of the most worthy of men and held a high place in the esteem of everybody who knew him, and his death leaves a great vacancy in the community. The material for a complete obituary notice is not at hand at this writing, Wednesday morning. on July 4, 1918.2

     Bartley Delbert "Bart" Smith Bartley Delbert Smith, Dutch Hill Road, was found at his home at 2:00 a.m. Sunday. Born in Leeper November 6, 1872, he had been a resident of this area for the past 30 years. Surviving are his wife, May, and the following children: Charles, Corydon; Forest, Russell; Mrs. Dora McClaine, Warren; Cecil, Custer City; Edgar, Glendale, Calif; and Mrs. Frances Smith, Erie; also 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, John, of Leeper, and a sister, Mrs. Vade Weider, Kane. A certificate of death from a heart attack was issued by the coroner. Funeral services will be held on Saturday and will be announce in detail later in the week.2 He was buried at Scotch Hill Union Cemetery, Scotch Hill, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.3,4 His Social Security Number was 178-10-0916.3,8 He married Mary Charnisky.2,3 Bartley Delbert "Bart" Smith was born on November 6, 1872 at Leeper, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania; The SSDI has a birth year of 1875.2,3,8 He married Ethel Elizabeth Henry on April 19, 1897 at Brookville, Jefferson Co., Pennsylvania.3,7 Bartley Delbert "Bart" Smith died on January 26, 1958 at Conewango, Warren Co., Pennsylvania, at age 85.2,3
