Guy William Cochran Jr. and Velma "Betty" Rodgers were married Nov. 1, 1946 in the Rouseville United Methodist Church by the late Clifford S. Joshua. They met while he was serving his country in the United States Army and they joyously celebrated their lives together. They enjoyed summers at Kibbe's Island Park Campground playing board games and they both shared immense love for their family pets. Betty was a kind, loving and dedicated caregiver and remained by her husband's side until his death in February 2004. Betty loved to crochet, knit, sew, listen to the music of the 1930s, ‘40s and ‘50s, and adored her time spent with her children, grandchildren and her ever faithful dog she lovingly called Holly. The was a graduate of the Oil City High School's class of 1943 and was most noted for her many years of service as a seamstress for the Printz Store and many community residents. She was a member of the Oil City Order of the Eastern Star. For many years she loved playing cards with her card group. She also relished letters and cards from her niece Vicki NeCastro. She faithfully watched the Grace United Methodist worship service every Sunday morning and affectionately loved to hear her brother as he sang with the church choir. Betty and Guy were members of the Good Hope Lutheran Church and she was actively involved with the Hope Circle for a number of years. Surviving are three sons, Gary Eugene Cochran and fianc Kathy Brown of Oil City, Edward Guy Cochran and wife Mary of Oil City, and Eric Craig Cochran and wife Betsy of Rocky Grove; her beloved brother Edward Rodgers, Jr. and wife Della of Seneca. Her brother Ed "Sonny" Rodgers was often her strength and the bond that was one of her greatest testimonial treasures. In addition she is survived by her grandchildren, Amy Jo Watkins and husband Michael of Titusville, Adam Cochran and fianc Nikki Sharp, Courtney Elizabeth Cochran, Cameron Cochran, all of Oil City, Sarah Crawford and husband Josh, Benjamin Cochran and wife Lori, Hannah Rennard and husband Paul, all of Rocky Grove; 10 great-grandchildren, Michael Watkins, Tasia, Talena, and Gavin Cochran, Kanyon, Drake and Willow Crawford, Michael and Benjamin Cochran, Jr., and Trapper Rennard; a brother-in-law, Jack Cochran and his companion Sueann McKenzie; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday in Hile-Best Funeral Home Inc., 2781 Route 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township, where funeral services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Randy Evans, Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice chaplain, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens in Cranberry. on June 8, 2012.2

Guy William Cochran Jr. Guy W. Cochran Jr., 80, of Oil City, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, in Sugar Creek Station, Franklin, where he resided for the past three years. Born Sept. 2, 1923, in Rouseville, he was the son of Guy W. Cochran Sr. and Elma Goodman Cochran. He attended Rouseville and Oil City schools. Mr. Cochran served in the U.S. Army during World War II, enlisting Jan. 29, 1941, and serving as a rifleman in combat duty with the 805th Hellcats Infantry. His tour of duty included Africa, Italy, France, Belgium and Germany. He survived the Battle of the Bulge and was discharged June 29, 1945. He was employed by Hunter-Wilson Barrel Works for a number of years and then went to work for Venango Newspapers where he retired as mail room foreman in 1985 after 33 years of service. Mr. Cochran was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church in Oil City where he was an active member since 1952. He enjoyed spending time with his family as well as bowling, hunting, fishing and camping. Later in life he also enjoyed his time with the staff and extended family at the Alzheimer's Unit of Sugar Creek Station. Mr. Cochran was married in the Rouseville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Clifford Joshua Nov. 1, 1946, to Velma E. "Betty" Rodgers, who survives. They celebrated 57 years of marriage last November. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Gary Cochran, Edward Cochran and wife, Mary, all of Oil City, and Eric Cochran and wife, Betsy, of Franklin; and seven grandchildren, Amy Watkins of Titusville, Adam Cochran, Courtney Cochran and Cameron Cochran, all of Oil City, Sarah Cochran, Ben Cochran and Hannah Cochran, all of Franklin. He also is survived by a sister, Ruth Culbertson of Rouseville; a brother, Jack Cochran of Cherrytree; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cochran was preceded in death by an infant sister. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Osenider Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Philip Scherr, pastor of Good Hope Lutheran Church, officiating.
