Fred and Virginia married on December 16, 1961 and in 1962 moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where Fred was branch manager for E.F. Craven Co. for more than 20 years. In 1983, Fred and Virginia moved to Charleston where Fred worked as a manager for Prime Equipment Co. until his retirement in 1995. Over the years, Fred's professional and community service included terms as Vice President of Associated Equipment Dealers and president of several homeowners' associations. He was a member of Harbor View Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Virginia C. Thomas of Charleston, a daughter, Elinor T. Boone (Randy) of Charleston, a granddaughter, Aubrey P. Glendenning (Dustin) of Chicago, a brother, Robert E. Thomas (Martha) of Ramseur, North Carolina, and a niece, Amy Petty (Glenn) of Warrenton, Virginia. on July 7, 2019.2
