Saturday (Feb. 8, 2014) in his home, surrounded by his family. He was born Nov. 28, 1940 in Jamestown, the son of Gerald B. Sr. and Jessica L. Ecker Miller. Before retiring in 2001, he had been employed as a bartender and manager at Sandy’s Grill. In earlier years he had worked for 25 years as a truck driver from Leon James & Son, and had owned and operated Little Guy’s Barbeque and Commissary at Dart Field in Hartfield. A member of the Open Meadows United Methodist Church, Jerry was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills, was an avid bowler, enjoyed dirt track racing at Stateline and Eriez Speedways and NASCAR Racing, and loved his dog “Cinder”. He is survived by three sons: Gerald L. Miller of Fernley, Nev., Kevin E. (Jody) Miller of Ashville, and Wesley B. (Nicole) Miller of Jamestown; two daughters: Trudy L. (Eddie) Stuart of Leesburg, Va., and Dawn L. (Dave) Hall of Panama; fifteen grandchildren: Tiffany, Jason, and Justin Jones, Jordan Stuart, Amber, Ashley, and James Miller, Amanda Rumaihi, Tina and Marshall Kelsey, Cameron and Rylie Miller, Madison Terry, and Colton and Ethan Miller; several great grandchildren; three sisters: Mary Lou Repine of Ashville, Rosie Miller and Debbie Schenberg, both of Titusville, Pa; a brother, Richard Miller of Ashville; and a step sister, Nancy Lezeski of Tennessee. In addition to his parents and step father Lyle Ecker, Sr., he was preceded in death by his wife, Leslie L. Hulings Miller, whom he married Feb. 25, 1961 in Ashville, and who died Sept. 15, 2006; by a daughter, Penny D. MacDonald on Dec. 25, 2010; a sister, Marilyn Hilt; two step brothers: Gary Ecker and Lyle Ecker, Jr; and by a step sister, Mary Lou McQuay. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at UPMC Hamot for the wonderful care that Jerry received from all of them. The funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday in Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home. Pastor John Bowen of the Open Meadows United Methodist Church will officiate. Surviving are four children: James (Kelly) Himes of Ellington, Tina (Todd) Barden of Falconer, Veronica (Richard) Johnston of Ellington, Charcy Himes (Nino Sanabria) of Celoron; 19 grandchildren: Kaylie Himes, CPL Tyler Himes USMC, Bryen Barden Ret USMC, Kaitlynn Barden, Dalton Whitacre, Richard Johnston III, Ashley Johnston, James Johnston, SGT Brittany Whippo US Army, Brianna Skuggen, Daryn Himes, Gage Carte, Carl Carte, Aryan Carte, Andrea Himes, Emily Bindics, Andrew Sanabria, Nino Sanabria, Nevaeh Sanabria and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles L. Himes whom she married April 4, 1970, who died April 1, 2009; a brother Bruce E. Huling and a sister Susan Wellman.
