Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Carolyn C. Gatski of Portland; mother, Ida Mae (Scotty) Currey of Thornton, WV; siblings, Karen (James) Giuliani of Morgantown, WV, Anne Harman of Newton, MA, Louis (Sandra) Gatski of Springfield, VA, John (Milagros) Gatski of Kensington, Maryland, Steve Gatski of Thornton, WV, Christina (Wayne) Woods of Centerpoint, WV, and Tim (Ana) Currey of American Samoa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dean and Janet Poggiali of Lansing and Bob and Jan Rial of Eaton Rapids; many cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park at Oak Hill. Mrs. Prater died in a Beckley hospital at 6 a.m. Tuesday. Death was attributed to cancer. She was a waitress at the Skyline Drive-Inn Restaurant in Hill Top. Born at Minden, Aug. 1, 1927, she was the daughter of Ralph Welch of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. Jesse Lavender of Newport News, Va.
