She married Wilford Hanna on June 18, 1946, in Clovis, N.M., and they lived together in Amarillo for more than 53 years. She graduated from Gould High School in 1944, where she was captain of the girls basketball team. After finishing school, she moved from Gould, Okla., to Amarillo and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., where she was a telephone operator before becoming a homemaker after the birth of her first child. Mrs. Hanna was an active member, at first, of Buchanan Street Baptist Church as a Sunday school teacher and vacation Bible school leader, then at First Baptist Church. Both Lucrecia and Wilford volunteered many hours at Buchanan Street Community Center distributing food and clothing. Over the years, Lucrecia helped women friends in her Sunday school class handle the stress of a husband's death and their own health problems caused by advancing age. She was always faithful, visiting with and helping them until their death. Lucrecia and Wilford were wonderful grandparents. They were interested in their grandchildren's lives and devoted to their welfare. They took delight in making their home a welcoming place for them, and the grandchildren reciprocated by coming over often for fun and games until they went off to college and started their careers. Lucrecia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 2000; an infant son, Kent, in 1952; four brothers, Floyd in 1997, Herman in 1999, James in 1944, and Jesse Jr. in 2009; and three sisters, Ruby in 1998, Opal in 1996, and Ann in 2004. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church, 1208 S. Tyler St., Amarillo, TX 79100-1666, for food and clothing ministry. on April 19, 2011.4
