Jimmie was born to the late Otto and Blanche Caldwell Bowles of Speedway on October 5, 1938. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles (Jiggs) Bowles, sister, Judy Wiley and a granddaughter, Brandy Riffe. Jimmie was well known as a self-employed building contractor, building churches, offices and residential homes. He served his country in the U.S. Marines. Jimmie was a member of Liberty Baptist Church at Glenwood. When Jimmie's health permitted, he served other churches as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, youth leader and lay speaker. Jimmie is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Mary (Bettie) Bowles of Green Valley; Two daughters, Rhonda Riffe of Bluefield, Tammy (Randy) Shorter of Speedway; Grandchildren, Travis Shorter, Amanda Roberts, Andrea Lee, Justin Shorter and Jimmie Lee Riffe; Five great-grandchildren; Step-son, Bill (Deb) Stowers of Roanoke, VA; Very special niece, Teresa Wiley of Pearisburg, VA; Three nephews; Sisters-in-law, Kay White of Bluewell, Barbara Mitchem of Princeton, Nadine Bowles of Speedway; Brother-in-law, Douglas Duncan of FL. To honor Jimmie's request, his body has been donated to the WV School of Osteopathic School of Medicine for Parkinson research which Jimmie had suffered since 2002. Memorial services to celebrate the life of Jimmie Dale Bowles will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 22, 2020 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Greg Kinzer officiating. on February 19, 2020.3

Conner, 75, of Athens, died Monday morning, Nov. 20, 2006 at the Princeton Community Hospital. Born April 18, 1931, at Island Creek, he was the son of the late Clowney Elmer Conner and Ona Mae Pettrey Conner. Troy had worked for Concord College in Athens for more than 35 years, serving as an electrician for the college. He was a member of the Mt. Jackson Baptist Church in Athens. Troy loved helping people and loved his dog Molly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Jean Conner; brothers, Emory, Coy and Ross Conner along with his sister, Louise Bowles. Survivors include his devoted daughter and son in law, Sharon R. and Darrel Lilly of Athens; four grandchildren, Steven and Sherry Lilly, Mark and Marlene Lilly, Felicia and Billy Ennis, Angelica Lilly; four great grandchildren, Elliot, Tori, Julianne and Cheyenne; one brother, Virgil Conner of Elgood. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006 from the Athens Cemetery in Athens with Pastor Charlie Rice and Gene Harman officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Those wishing to attend these services are requested to meet at the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton by 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Conner family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton. on November 24, 2006.2

(d. ca1956) The Mullens family was living in the are in the 1900's when the railroad came into Camden on Gauley. The family lived in towns were sawmills sprung up, such as Gauley Mills, Camden on Gauley, Harris Siding, Thorn Hill, Coal Siding, Curtin, Cranberry Station, Holcomb and in 1912 ended up in Richwood.
