She was a nurse for the Veterans Administration for 23 years and retired from Kecoughtan Medical Center, where she worked as a drug and alcohol rehabilitation nurse. She was an active member of Deer Park Baptist Church and its senior choir. Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Coleman Sr. Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Covington of Achilles and Donna Drew of Cumberland, R.I; her son, George L. Coleman Jr. of White Marsh; six grandchildren, Deena Mariniak of Newport News, Chris Covington, Michelle Brown and George Coleman III, all of Gloucester, and Jeff Yost and Tanya Rao of Cumberland, R.I; seven great-grandchildren, Michael and Hanna Mariniak, Jacob and Cody Brown, Cheyenne Davis-Covington and Linzie Coleman and Andrea Rao; one sister, Lorraine Thompson of Lexington, N.C; and one brother, John Morgan of Miami. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday by the Rev. Frederick Forry at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. on December 26, 1999.3

Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by his parents, George L. Coleman Sr. and Ernestine M. Coleman. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Joye P. Coleman; daughter, Michelle Coleman Brown, and her husband, Jamie Brown, of Gloucester; son, George L. Coleman III, and his wife, Pam Dishman, of Gloucester; two sisters, Jeanne D. Covington of Gloucester and Donna C. Drew of Rhode Island; four grandchildren, Raymond Spiggle, Jacob Brown, Linzie Coleman and Cody Brown, all of Gloucester; and many nieces and nephews and his beloved companion, Purple Haze.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society, P.O. Box 385, Gloucester, VA 23061. on September 27, 2002.2

Joyce Jackquline Beales Joyce Jackqueline Dooley, 63, of Oak Hill, WV, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Raleigh General Hospital. Joyce was born on October 22, 1958 in Oak Hill to Kenneth Jr. Beals and Joyce Margaret "Cricket" Beals. Joyce was a member of the Hilltop Family Worship Center. She loved fishing, traveling, and her favorite thing of all was the time spent with her family. In addition to her parents Joyce is preceded in death by her husband William R. Dooley and her stepmother Elizabeth Beals. Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved companion Danny Damron of Oak Hill; children Kenneth Dooley of Beckely, Amanda Dooley and her husband Wade of Oak Hill and William Dooley and his wife Catherine of Frankford; eight grandsons; four great grandchildren; sisters Lisa Harrah of Oak Hill and Patricia Brown and her husband Scott of Dayton, OH; brothers Kenneth Beals (Tammy) of Dayton, OH and Donnie Beals and his wife Barb of Myrtle Beach, SC; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
