Upon retiring to Cross Lanes, she worked for several family practice doctors. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 57 years, Arnold Schoolcraft Sr; sons and a daughter-in-law, James H. and Elda Schoolcraft of Alexandria, La., John Schoolcraft of Cross Lanes; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann Schoolcraft-King and Jim of Orlando, Fla. She is also survived by her sister, Emilee Denkins of Cross Lanes; two brothers and their wives, Cecil and Roberta Spence of Cross Lanes, Charles and Rosemary Spence of Nashville, Tenn. She was the loving grandmother to three grandsons, Joseph Schoolcraft of Alexandria, Michael and Jason Schoolcraft of Orlando, Fla. In addition, she was survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, Cross Lanes, with the Rev. Mayford Witt officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. on September 23, 2003.7

"Buddy" Forgie of Thaxton, and Robert E. Forgie of Clifton Forge; three sisters, Estelle Hackworth of Roanoke, Bertha Holland and Eva Ward, both of Montvale; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Carder-Tharp Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted Friday, July 31, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Walnut Grove Union Church with the Rev. Michael Pope officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Union Church Cemetery. Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Bonnie C. Forgie, Bedford, Mrs. Estelle C. Hackworth, Roanoke, Mrs. Bertha C. Holland, Montvale, Mrs. Eva C. Ward, Montvale; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Walnut Grove Union Church on Monday with a time to be announced. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Union Church Cemetery. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel after 5 p.m. Saturday on October 4, 1997.5

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 1996, from Montvale Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Dewey Page and the Rev. J. Harris Stephens. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford on March 4, 1996.4
