He died at his home in Grand View, Missouri, July 15, 1916 at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 28 days. He was married to Miss Annie E. Calwell, August 2, 1874. To this union 8 children were born - Thos. E., Mamie K., William E., Jesse L., Walter S., Harry J., Carrie M., and Chas. S. Gray. Harry J. and Carrie M. departed this life 6 years ago, his wife, Mrs. Anna Gray, died December 21, 1912. Mr. Gray joined the Confederate army at the beginning of the war and was in the following battles: Lone Jack, Wilsons Creek and Pea Ridge, where he was wounded. Soon after the war he went across the plains to Las Vagas, New Mexico. In six months he returned to Jackson county, Missouri where he located for some years. Mr. Cray was married the second time to Mrs. Edith West of Kansas City, Missouri, June 14, 1914, to this union one son was born, William Lee Jr. Mr. Gray lived on his farm near Kenneth, Kansas for many years. Deceased joined the church when a small boy and has ever been a faithful member. His life was full of good deeds toward his fellow men, he was an active, vigorous man and a good citizen and his death is a loss to his home and community. Departing this life he leaves a wife, 6 sons and one daughter to mourn his loss. on August 10, 1916.5
