Phyllis Anne Smith Phyllis Smith Peters, 71, of Lynchburg, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017. She was the wife of the late Warren Owen Peters, Sr. Born April 7, 1946 (should be 1926) in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Presley Smith and Gladys Shaner Smith. Phyllis was the last Welcome Wagon Lady of Lynchburg. Thanks to her work, new arrivals to the city were greeted with a friendly face and gifts from various businesses in the area. She later opened her own travel agency, Four Seasons Travel, where many lucky travelers enjoyed her unique ability to find interesting and offbeat places to visit. Her annual trip to New York just before Christmas was one of the most popular of her tours. Phyllis is survived by two children: Warren Peters, Jr. (Bobbi), Anne Ellett (Richard), three grandchildren: Terry Greene, Marshall Ellett, Morgan Ellett, and other family and friends. He was a veteran of World War Two Battle of the Bulge and a Tank driver with the 9th Armor Division. Up until recently, he was an active member of the Zamora Convertible Unit. He had over 85 trips with the Shriner Road Runners taking children to the Shriners Burn Hospital in Cincinnati and to the prosthetic Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. He was retired from Robins and Morton since 1992, but certainly not retired from life. The family wishes a special thank you to Community Hospice for their loving care. There will be a Masonic Service at graveside. on January 31, 2008.5

She is survived by her husband of nearly 67 years, Embree Eugene Foote, Pell City; their children, Pam Foote, Pell City; Kay (Wayne) Koswoski, Madison; Alan (Angela) Foote, Vestavia Hills; grandchildren, Joseph (Stephanie) Koswoski, Alex and Connor Foote; two great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Brodrick, Northport; aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Graveside service immediately following at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family expresses deepest appreciation to staff at Sunset Trace and Woodland Way at The Village at Cook Springs for their compassionate care, and to Justina Burk, who gave great comfort throughout her stay and in the final moments of Laura's life. on September 9, 2010.2

Gene retired after 43 years with Clow Corp. and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a loving husband and father who gave selflessly to his family. Gene loved the outdoors, was an avid golfer and fisherman and always enjoyed a good game of cards. He loved the company of others, telling stories with amazing accuracy for names, dates and details. He developed a close kinship with his "buddies" at the Col. Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Moore Foote; infant son; parents, William Talmage and Gussie Coupland Foote. He is survived by his children, Pam Foote of Pell City, Kay (Wayne) Koswoski of Madison and Alan (Angie) Foote of Birmingham; sister, Carrie Bruce of Gardendale; brothers, Howard (Virginia) Foote of Hoover and Bill (Terry) Foote of Alabaster; grandchildren, Joseph (Stephanie) Koswoski of Madison, Alex and Connor Foote of Birmingham; great-grandchildren, Finley and Tucker Koswoski of Madison; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 30, 2013 from 11 a.m.-noon at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham with the Rev. Barry Bruce officiating.
