Mr. Beard was past president of the Auto Racing Club of Hagerstown, and past president of the Greencastle Softball League. He was a member of the former "Free-Staters" Drum And Bugle Corps of Hagerstown, and former member of the Hanover Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps of Hanover, Pa. He was a graduate of Waynesboro High School. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren, collecting NASCAR memorabilia and watching auto racing. He and his wife, Deborah P. (Dewease) Beard, were married Dec. 3, 1970, in Hagerstown. Surviving family in addition to his mother and wife are two daughters, Annette G. Measell, Chambersburg, Pa., and Tammy Wolf of York Springs, Pa; two sons, Teal E. Beard of Greencastle and Tommy R. Beard of York, Pa; two sisters, Barbara Piper and Beverly Adolini, both of Waynesboro; two brothers, Dennis Beard of Sykesville, Md., and Daral Beard of Waynesboro; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Chanel Beard, on Aug. 17, 1998. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. on April 10, 2006.2
