She is the daughter of the late Otha Galen and Esther Payne Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Marvin Elwin DeWease, Sr. Nancy is survived by her sons, Marvin Elwin II and wife Angela of Evington, Va and Calvin Lee of the home; grandchildren, Jonathan DeWease, Kelsey Stone (Matt), Rachel Dolan, Erin Dolan; great grandsons, River and Reed Stone; and siblings, Martha Elizabeth Miller (Ernest), Galen Davis (Linda), Mary Juanita Smith, Leonard Davis (Kathy). Nancy owned and operated Nancy's Cleaning service. After retiring, she spent years with quilting and crafting. She was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church. DeWease, 75, of Roanoke County, Va., went peacefully to her Heavenly home on Saturday, July 23, 2022, after a brief illness. She was born in Virginia on May 20, 1947, to her late parents, Francis J. and Agnes Craighead Bohn. Pam attended Northside High School. In 1965, Pam married the love of her life, Dale DeWease, and together they celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage. Pam had an outgoing, vibrant personality, and was known for her laughter. She enjoyed going on trips and traveling with her husband. Pam liked doing hobbies at home such as scrapbooking, crocheting, coloring books, and reading. She loved animals, especially the family's dogs and cats, but Pam's love of animals also extended to the wildlife that frequented the family property. Pam and Dale enjoyed having their coffee while they watched for deer, bears, squirrels, birds, and any other wildlife that ventured into their backyard. Pam is survived by her husband, Dale DeWease; beloved cat, Annie; her sister, Marsha Conner; her devoted sister-in-law, Arleigh Boyd; special nephew, Sheldon Bogaz; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on July 26, 2022.²

Boggess, 78, one of the oldest merchants in Giles county, died Saturday afternoon at his home at Bane. Mr. Boggess was a native of Monroe county, W. Va., and moved to Giles county when a young man, and located at Narrows, where he operated a store for many years. For a long period he was one of the leading citizens of the town. He was thrice married. Among positions held by Mr. Boggess were postmaster, justice of the peace, town police justice, and Sunday school superintendent. He was active in all church and civic activities. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Gertrude Allen Boggess, formerly of Christiansburg, and two children by his first marriage: Mrs. W. L. Piper, Princeton, W. Va., and F. E. Boggess, Harlan, Ky; and two brothers: Will Boggess, Richlands, and N. A. Boggess, Athens, W. Va. Burial will be in Fairview. on January 28, 1935.²

W., Roanoke, Virginia.^2,3 She was born on December 24, 1946 at Roanoke, Virginia.^2,3 She died on October 7, 1953 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 6; Fell from a moving auto.^2,3,6 She A seven-year-old Roanoke County girl was fatally hurt in a fall from a moving automobile early last night. She was Nora Frances Epperley daughter Mr. and Mrs. Leon A. Epperley of Salem Star Route. The accident occurred about 6:45 p.m. on Route 117 between the Peters Creek bridge and U. S. 460, at the western corporate limits of Roanoke. The little girl was brought to Lewis-Gale Hospital in the car from which she had fallen. She was pronounced dead on arrival. Dr. Charles M. Irvin, City medical examiner, attributed death to head injuries. Deputy Sheriff E. E. Fry, who investigated, said the child fell from a car driven by her uncle, R. E. Jones of RFD 3, Roanoke. Fry said the little girl and a younger brother were visiting in the Jones home while their mother was at a hospital with an ill son. Jones took the child with him to pick up his six-year-old daughter. Caroline Lee Jones, and a stepdaughter, Alberta J. Henderson, 13, and return them from music lessons. They were en route home when the Epperley child tripped the handle of the left rear door and was jerked from the machine when the door swung open, Fry said. In the back seat with her was Caroline Lee Jones. Jones stopped, picked up the injured child and started to the hospital. She was believed to have died about midway between the scene of the accident and the hospital, Dr. Irvin said. Surviving beside her parents are two brothers, Leon A. Epperley, Jr., and Gary Lee Epperley. on October 8, 1953.⁶

A veteran of World War II, he served in the European Theatre. Mr. Dewease formerly worked for Lee Hamner Construction, Waynesboro. In 1981, he retired from Grove Worldwide, Shady Grove, where he worked the maintenance department. He and his wife, Zelma L. Swisher Dewease of 15545 Pennsylvania Ave. North, celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary in November 1989. The Deseases formerly lived on Polktown Road, Waynesboro, for 25 years. Besides his wife and daughter, surviving are a son, Dennis L. of Abbottstown; two other daughters, Deborah (Mrs. Paul) Beard and Janey (Mrs. Richard Jr.) Newcomer, both of Greencastle; four brothers: Lenwood of Smithsburg, Md; Stuart Sr. and Fred, both of Waynesboro; and Lloyd of Whitacre, Va; three sisters, Katherine Cordell of Greencastle, JoAnn' Caron of Bradford and Janet Stone of Hagerstown, Md; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Three brothers also preceded him in death. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. on August 2, 1990.⁷

Dewease, 31, died of a sudden heart attack while at work Monday morning at the Funkhouser Company plant at Greenstone, Adams County. He was a resident of Fairfield, Route 1. Mr. Dewease was born in Glenvar, Va., a son of Monza and Pearl (Wells) Dewease. He lived at Quincy and Waynesboro, Route 2, before moving to the Fairfield area four years ago. Dewease, of Williamsport; Carl and Linwood, both of Smithsburg, Route 2; Douglas, of Waynesboro, Route 2; Lloyd, who is serving with the U. S. Army in Newfoundland, and Stewart and Frederick Dewease, both of Waynesboro; and three sisters, Mrs. J. E. Cordell, Mrs. Joseph Caron, and Miss Janet Dewease, all of Waynesboro. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. on April 10, 1957.³

     Geneva Katherine DeWease was buried at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, Franklin Co., Pennsylvania.^3,6 She was born on June 16, 1927 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.^2,3 As of March 16, 1949,her married name was Cordell.^3,7 She married John Edward Cordell III on March 16, 1949 at Frederick, Frederick Co., Maryland.^3,7 Geneva Katherine DeWease GREENCASTLE, Pa. - G. Katherine Dewease Cordell, 75, of 13675 Williamsport Pike, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at her home following an extended illness. Born June 16, 1927, in Salem, Va., she was the daughter of the late Monza and Gladys Wells Dewease. Her husband, J. Edward Cordell III, died Feb. 2, 1991. They were marred March 16, 1949. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Waynesboro, Pa., where she was a member of King's Daughters Sunday School class and Keenagers. She is survived by seven sons, John M. Cordell, Garry R. Cordell and Daniel L. Cordell, all of Greencastle, Larry J. Cordell of McConnellsburg, Pa., Stephen M. Cordell of Hagerstown, Timothy E. Cordell of Clear Spring, and James A. Cordell of Chambersburg, Pa; one daughter, Bonnie M. Yoder of Greencastle; two brothers, Stuart Dewease of Waynesboro, and Frederick Dewease of Florida; two sisters, JoAnn Caron of Burlington, N.C., and Janet Stone of Hagerstown; 21 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Douglas Dewease, Stanley Dewease, Lance Dewease, Lenwood Dewease, Lloyd Dewease and Carl Dewease; an infant sister; an infant granddaughter; and two infant great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. on December 9, 2002.³ She died on December 12, 2002 at Greencastle, Franklin Co., Pennsylvania, at age 75.³
