Thorn of Princeton; eleven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren aLso survive. Services will be conducted Friday at 4 p.m., from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory with Rev. Bill Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Princeton. on January 4, 1979.6

She had been a resident of Beckley since 1943. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ivan Jr. in 1984. A son, Kevin, in 1994, brothers: Bernard, Otis, Charles, Walter, Lawrence, sisters: Maud, Bessie, Minnie, Ruby, Leona, and Mabel and was the last child of the 12. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Becky Leach and husband, Jeffrey of Beckley. Two First Cousins, Mrs. Louise Via Thorn of Princeton and Mrs. Helen Ramey Hawkes of Martinsville, Virginia and respective families. A host of nieces and nephews that extend to 5 generations from her sibling families. Special Nieces: Elline Swadis, Carol Floyd, Dorothy McCracken, Dottie M. Wagner, and Nephews, Gene McCracken and Rev Jim Floyd, also special friends Nadine Dingess and Janet Lilly. Goldie married Joe in August 1939; moved to Prosperity, WV; and was a faithful member of the Beckley Church of God for over 65 years. Her business ventures were several antique shops and teaching music to a host of budding and successful musicians. Most of all, she held high her testimony of Christianity and was a faithful prayer warrior. Thanks to Vickie Fatony, cna, the staff of Bowers Hospice House. Rev. Donald Snyder/First Christian Church, Dr. Joe Golden, and the Beckley Church of God. Services will be Tuesday, December 23, Beckley Church of God, 2213 S. Kanawha St., Beckley WV 25801 at 2 p.m., with Rev Dr. John Sanger, and Bishop F. D. Sexton. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Mausoleum. on December 23, 2014.3

Hearn, 86, of Beckley, formerly of Princeton, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at SunBridge Care Center in Beckley from complications of pneumonia. He experienced two strokes in 2003 and had resided in the skilled facility since. Mr. Hearn was a grandson of the Honorable James Hearn and Esther Catherine Deweese, who served in politics and were notable figures in public life in Mercer County in the early 1900s. Born to Alonzo G. Hearn and Emma Ramey Hearn on June 22, 1920 in Princeton, he was one of 12 children, attended Mercer County schools, Princeton Church of God, and sung with a sister for various occasions when very young. His best friend in Princeton was the late Clayton Martin. He left Princeton in the 1940s, entered the military, served in the Air Force in the European Theatre, and lived in Beckley until 1964 when he went to Alexandria, Va., to begin working as a Federal Protective Officer for the Pentagon, Washington, D.C., until his retirement. He than came to Beckley in 1992. He had served in ministry with licenses in the Church of God and Pentecostal Holiness Church serving as a pastor, evangelist and teacher until his illness. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Goldie Hearn Ivan, and his V.A. rep/caregiver, Mrs. Becky Ivan Leach and husband Jeff, all of Beckley; a stepson, Roger Buckner, Alexandria; several nieces and nephews that extend four generations from him and his siblings; cousins, Miss Mildred Burk and Mrs. Louise Thorn of Princeton, and Mrs. Helen Ramey Hawkes of Martinsville, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. F.D. Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Eugene Leach, Ken Alley, Jeff Leach, Jim Chambers, Wayne Tucker, John Welch and Hal Price Jr. An online guest book is available at www.calfeefh.com. After pursuing a modeling career in the late 1940s and 1950s, Elline worked in the fashion industry, managing Plain & Fancy clothing boutiques in both Morrisville and Jenkintown, and Jackie Gordon's in Abington. She later worked as an interior design consultant at Creative Upholstering in Bristol. Elline loved music, especially blues music, and loved being with family and friends. She was the beloved mother of Sharon Swadis; beloved Granny of Shannon Lynn Aspite and William McCool; and beloved sister of Joann Teague, Patricia Pierce, Emma Jean Atkinson and Margaret Hoover. She is also survived by three great-granddaughters, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Elline was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, and her son, Michael. Elline will be dearly missed and remembered. Until we meet again... A private interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 31, at Bristol Cemetery. on July 19, 2015.3

The family will receive friends at the home of Judy and Pete Bennett, 5023 Sharon Woods Lane, Charlotte from 7:00-8:30PM Tuesday. Survivors include two daughters, Judy S. Bennett, and her husband, Pete, Betty S. Pressley, and her husband, Doug, all of Charlotte; a half brother, Wendell Sifford; five grandchildren, Sherry Sanders, and her husband, Randall, fo Simpsonville, S.C., Doug Pressley, Jr., and his wife, Sheryl, Julie Loucks, and her husband, Matt, of Charlotte, Lisa Kitterman, and her husband, Kurt, Brandt Bennett and his wife, Anita, of Charlotte; and four great grandchildren. The family of Mrs. Sims would like to give special thanks to the 5th floor nursing staff at Wesley Care Center. Memorials may be made to Pritchard Memorial Baptist Charlotte, 1117 South Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203 or Wing Haven Garden and Bird Sanctuary, 248 Ridgewood Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28209. Franklin, all of Roanoke; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, sister, Thelma Neal, Melbourne, Fla; brothers, Ambrose Franklin, Los Angeles, Calif; Glen Franklin, Portsmouth, Va. and Layten Franklin, Richmond, Va. Funeral services will be held at Central Baptist Church, 12:00 noon Saturday with the Rev. David Henderson, officiating. Interment will follow in Fair View Cemetery. Friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel. on May 24, 1991.2
