She had been a resident of Princeton for the past 30 years and of Mercer County all her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church here and was first married to C. D. Hall, who died in 1918. In 1929, she married Calhoun Oney, who died in 1935. Survivors include a son, Albert Hall of Princeton; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Hall of Peterstown and Mrs. Pencie Shrewsbury of Winston-Salem, N. C; a foster son, Lawrence Showalter of Princeton; 14 grandchildren; and eight grandchildren. A son and a sister preceded her in death. The body is at the William S. Broyles Mortuary in Peterstown pending completion of funeral arrangements. on January 26, 1960.2

     Ryland T. Wells was buried at Roselawn Burial Park, 103 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, Virginia.1,2 He married Opal Arlene Yeatts, daughter of Alva Preston Yeatts and Virginia Myrtle Spangler.3 Ryland T. Wells was born on May 9, 1924 at Callands, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia.1,2 He died on October 1, 2002 at Martinsville, Virginia, at age 78.1,2 He Ryland T. Wells, 78, of 78 Garden Drive, Ridgeway, died Oct. 1, 2002, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. Wells was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the European Theater. He was awarded five Battle Stars and an Arrowhead for the D-Day Invasion. Born May 9, 1924, in Callands, he was the son of the late Leslie Stone Wells and Elsie E. Aaron Wells. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Y. Wells. He retired from LADD Furniture Co. with 25 years of service, and he had been a member of County Line Christian Church for 65 years. Surviving are one son, Michael Wells of Ridgeway; a brother, Robert Wells of Martinsville; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. J.D. Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to: D-Day Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 77, Bedford, Va. 24523. on October 2, 2002.2
