He is survived by his widow Mrs. Katherine Cole Willis, and five children: Mrs. J. B. Wilson, Mrs. A. C. Allen, Mrs. O. W. Farley, J. A. Willis and Goff Willis, all of Crab Orchard. Twenty-three grandchildren are living. One brother, Giles A. Willis, resides at Charleston and a sister Mrs. J. W. Smith, at Crab Orchard. The body was returned to the home at Crab Orchard yesterday afternoon. Pallbearers were announced as follows: Active - Herbert Riffe, Duftey Riffe, Kenna Martin, Dewey Ellison, Murlin Smith, and Fred Covey. Honary - James P. Meadows, Clifford Lilly, John Hornbrook, R. Johnson, and Mr. Hamlet. on March 8, 1936.3

Funeral services were conducted at the residence of Mrs. Gordon Lester at Ellett, Virginia, for her husband, Mr. Gordon Lester, at two p.m., May 3, 1935. Interment followed at the Christiansburg Cemetery in the family lot. Mr. Lester was born in Floyd County, Virginia November 1, 1850, the son of Champ and Rachel Lester who later moved to Raleigh County, West Virginia. Mr. Lester was married to Miss Charity Gray of Raleigh County, West Virginia, on November 5, 1871. He was engaged in the flour and milling business in the early eighties and had as his partner, Jackson Snuffer. Their business was located at Wickham, Raleigh County, West Virginia. He moved to Ellett, Virginia, about five miles from Christiansburg, in 1901 where he has been engaged in farming and grazing until the time of his death. He was recognized as one among the more successful farmers of Montgomery County. Virginia, where his farm was located. As a citizen he lived among his neighbors a quiet peaceful life and was at all times possessed with a kind and generous sympathy for all who needed help of any kind. During his lifetime he had made necessary provisions for a home for each of his children and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Besides his wife, Mrs. Charity Lester of Ellett, Virginia, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. P. C. Shumate from Springfield, Missouri; also three daughters, Mrs. R. G. Baldwin, Mrs. C. A. McAlexander of Ellett, Virginia, and Mrs. R. I. McAlexander of Mount Hope, West Virginia; also three sons, L. B. Lester, V. E. Lester and C. E. Lester of Ellett, Virginia. Mr. Lester leaves nine grandchildren. Among those who attended his funeral from out of town were Mrs. Rachel Jones, Mrs. Allie Shufflebarger, and Rev. and Mrs. Stuck from Princeton, West Virginia; Mrs. John Marshall and daughters, Frances and Ann, Mrs. Nettie Watts, Mrs. Mary Doss, and Mrs. Jenny Stone of Roanoke, Virginia; Mr. and Mrs. John Souder, Mr. John Gray of Salem, Virginia, Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Snuffer, Mr. and Mrs. S, S. Snuffer and family, Mrs. J. D. Crenshaw of Christiansburg, Virginia; Mrs. W. R. Bonham and Robert Bonham, Rich Creek, Virginia. Funeral services were in charge of Rev. Powers, pastor of the Cambria Baptist church, assisted by Rev. Shiftlett, Ellett, Virginia; Rev. McCormick, Cambria, Virginia; Rev. Stuck, Princeton, W. Va., Rev. Keadle, Christiansburg, Virginia. Mrs. C. H. Lucas was in charge of the music and was assisted by a mixed quartette, Mrs. P. L. Snuffer, Mr. N. C. Akers, Mr. Roy Kenzie, Mrs. W. F. Moore. Old familiar hymns were used and Mr. Kenzie sang a solo, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Active pallbearers were L. B. Lester, V. E. Lester, C. E. Lester, R. G. Baldwin, C. A. McAlexander, and R. I. Norma is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 55 years, Melvin George Wiseman; her sisters, Gladys Poff Parker, of Orlando, Fla., and Bonnie Mae Poff Chewning, of Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews. A service celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2012, at Oakey's North Chapel with Pastor Dan Rudy officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 12, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237. on February 11, 2012.1

Surviving are his brother, Glenn Wiseman of Roanoke; his sister, Bonnie Wiseman Chittum and husband, Gary of Virginia Beach; also numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a "special thanks" to the workers at Pheasant Ridge Memory Care Center and Roanoke Memorial Hospital, 10th floor palliative care doctors and nurses, for all their comfort, care and concern for Melvin. A graveside service will be held in Evergreen Burial Park, Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jack Lowe Jr. officiating. Bonnie was born in Roanoke February 12, 1933, and lived in the area all of her life. She was the daughter of the late William A. and Lula S. Poff. Bonnie was a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and loved her family. In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Steve Chewning Sr. in 2010; sisters, Marilyn Poff, Thelma Dooley, and Norma Wiseman; and her brother, Billy Poff. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Jackie Chewning Jr., of Winston-Salem, N.C., Jeff and Beach Chewning, of Wirtz; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Michael Coleman, of Salem; grandchildren, Jake Chewning, Lewyn Poage, Tyson Poage, Travis Poage, Joshua Harlow, and Joey Harlow; great-grandchildren, Emmaleigh Poage, Jocelynn Harlow, Ella Harlow, and Jordan Harlow; sister, Gladys Parker, of Orlando, Fla; special friends and doctor, Dr. Nelson Green and his wife, Brenda; dear friends, Ruth Yagle, and Tom and Diane Martin. The family would like to thank the MICU staff at Lewis Gale Medical Center for the outstanding care they gave to Bonnie. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on March 22, 2013.6

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Mary Chewning; brothers, Parrish (Pete) Chewning and Paul Chewning; and sisters, Lula Westmoreland, Aileen Wiley and Ruth Harris. Steve retired from A&P as the meat manager after 34 years of service. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Bonnie P. Jones went to be with her Lord Tuesday morning, July 18, 2017 at the Brethren Home Community, New Oxford. Born June 15, 1928, in Roanoke County, VA to the late Guy Lermond Sisson and Roxie Mattie Simpson Sisson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Gratin Ashby Jones of Olney, MD. She was also prceded in death by her grandson, Glenn Tanner of New Oxford; her brother, Thomas Sisson of Roanoke, VA; her sisters, Louise Cate of Baltimore, MD, Rev. Mildred Asbury of Lynchburg, VA, Claudine Chumney of Blackstone, VA, Margaret Strickler of Blacksburg, VA, Frances Prentis of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She is survived by one brother-in-law, Aubrey Chumney of Blackstone, VA. She is also survived by her daughter, Carolyn Marie Tanner and a son-in-law, John H. Tanner, Jr. of New Oxford. She is also survived by her daughter, Sandra Sue Edwards of Gettysburg, VA; grandson, Phillip Edwards and daughter-in-law, Marianne Edwards; two precious great-grandchildren, Alison Edwards and Austin Edwards of Brick, NJ. She is also survived by her grandson, Andrew Edwards of Littlestown. Betty graduated from Bent Mt. High School and Roanoke Business College. She was employed by the VA Hospital of Roanoke Va. And later the C&P telephone Company which became Verizon. She was a wonderful wife and mother and an excellent homemaker. She was a dedicated member of the Olney Baptist Church. Over the years she was a Sunday School Teacher and a Vacation Bible School Teacher. She was active in the Ladies Missionary Society, Ladies Sunday School Class, and Prayer Line. Betty enjoyed being room mother for her daughter's school class and went on many field trips with them. She was also in the PTA. The family would like to express their thanks to The Brethren Home Community and the Spirit Trust Lutheran Hospice for their loving care. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 Monday afternoon, at the Norbeck Memorial Park, 16225 Batchelors Forest Rd., Olney, MD. on July 20, 2017.8
