Vic was a man with a servant's heart who loved his family and genuinely cared for others. Vic was a fan of Nascar, especially Dale Earnhardt. He loved the Washington Redskins, fishing, and watching the Blue Angels fly. Victor enjoyed spending time in Florida, golfing, and taking care of his cherished El Caminos. Most of all, Vic enjoyed spending time with his family. He was wholeheartedly devoted to his grandchildren, having never told them "no" their entire life, and his great granddaughter Hadley, who brought him so much joy and always a smile to his face. Victor was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Barbara Ann West (Day), son Kevin West, brother Charles M. West, Jr. (Nellie), and sister Margaret West Amos (Dave). Victor is survived by his daughters, Vickie West Rice (Charles), Patricia Lee West; grandchildren C. Andrew Rice, Victoria Rice Eisenberg (Chase), and great granddaughter Hadley Ann Eisenberg. on December 31, 2023.⁷

     Vergie Irene Shrader STRATFORD, Conn. — Vergie Shrader Conner, age 80, of Stratford, Conn., passed away on Friday, October 8, 2010 in Bridgeport Hospital. Vergie, a retired supervisor for Remington Products, was born in Montcalm, W.Va. to the late Henry and Lura (Martin) Shrader and was a long time Connecticut resident. She had a great talent and love for making crafts for family and friends. She truly enjoyed preparing her Southern meals and she will forever be remembered for her delicious "beans and cornbread" dinners. Survivors include her beloved children, James Conner and his wife Mary-Anne of Connecticut, Lois Bray Kaminski and her husband Frank, and Wanda Thomsen and her husband Jonny, all of Florida; four grandchildren, Frank Kaminski, James Conner and his wife Carissa, Brett Conner, Amy Lee and her two children Sharmel and Melek King; her longtime loving companion, Bernard Reilly and his family of Connecticut; a brother, Lester Shrader of Bluefield, W.Va; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, William Bray and Alfred Conner; four brothers, Henry, John, Buster and Larmer; and four sisters, Effie, Marie, Elvira and Betty. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. with the Reverend Preston Mathena officiating the service.
