He is survived by his wife, Lina O’Dowd, of Roseburg; children David (Patti) Seddon of Pahrump, NV, Stephen (Cyndi) Seddon of Lancaster, CA, Philip (Cindy) Seddon of Fontana, CA, Beth (Danny) Fox of Devore, CA; brother Jake (Linda) O’Dowd of Sutherlin; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. on March 30, 2016.3

He is predeceased by his wife, Virginia Swann Emmons . Howard is survived by his much beloved children and grandchildren, Frederick Emmons and Debbie Emmons with Emily and Edith Emmons, Timothy Emmons and Alice Emmons with Jonathan, Michael and Nathan Emmons, Anthony Emmons and Vicky Emmons with Shawn and Kristi Emmons Annette Byrd and Rodney Byrd with Jessica, Ashby and Joshua Mason; sisters-in-law, Margaret Schomisch and husband, Ron, June Hoal and Muriel Emmons; a devoted friend, Nancy Dickerson and a faithful and life long friend, Jones Keller. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on February 18, 2002.1

Walters Jr., 89, of Roanoke, Va., died on Thursday Morning January, 13, 2011, of pneumonia at Berkshire Nursing Home. Mr. Walters was born on March 17, 1921, and graduated from Jefferson High School. He was a stock broker for many years with Cash Shoaf & Company and then with C.M. Walters and Company. He was the husband of the late Dorothy N. Walters and is survived by a daughter, Sharon W. Fleming and her husband, Delmont, of Fredericksburg; two sons, Kevin A. Walters, of Richmond, and Terry M. Walters and fiancée, Donna Shelton, of Roanoke; a brother, Jerry Michael Walters, of Disputanta; and 11 nieces and nephews. Mr. Walters has left his body to the Medical College of Virginia. on January 16, 2011.2

     David Houston Chittum Sr. was buried at First Presbyterian Church Columbarium, 1901 Patrick Henry Avenue, Martinsville, Virginia.5 He David Huston Chittum, August 1, 1932 – February 12, 2023. David Huston Chittum, 90, left to reside with our Lord on February 12, 2023, at King's Grant Retirement Community in Martinsville, Va. David was born in Staunton, Va., son of the late Harold T. and Cornelia J. Chittum of Waynesboro. David served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1956. He later graduated from the University of Richmond with a degree in Sociology, and then received his Master's degree from Madison College. He began his teaching career at Spencer-Penn Elementary school. David worked for many years with the Martinsville City School System, as a teacher, principal, and social worker as the Visiting Teacher. An avid golfer, he belonged to Chatmoss and Forest Park Country Clubs, where he enjoyed helping others improve their game, as well as his own success which included 17 Holes In One. For many years he enjoyed hunting and fishing as well. David was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Martinsville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brother, Hal T. Chittum Jr., and sister-in-law, Betty Chittum. He is survived by two adoring sons, David H. Chittum Jr. and his wife, Mary Kay Kahn-Chittum, of Roanoke, and William Robert Chittum and his wife, Jessica Farnsier Chittum; two grandchildren, Tyler and Aleah Chittum of Jonesborough, Tenn; nephew, Hal Chittum III of Florida; nieces, Ann Chittum of Charleston, S.C., and Janet Sosnoski of Dobson, N.C.4 He was born on August 1, 1932 at Staunton, Augusta Co., Virginia.1,2,3,4,5 He married Jane Norman Henson, daughter of Daniel Norman Henson and Miriam Walters, on August 8, 1959 at Roanoke, Virginia.1 David Houston Chittum Sr. and Jane Norman Henson were divorced on November 22, 1983 at Martinsville, Virginia.2 David Houston Chittum Sr. died on February 12, 2023 at Martinsville, Virginia, at age 90.4,5
