Rev. Byron Mahan, pastor of the Christian church will be in charge. Burial will be made in the City cemetery. The body was removed to the residence this morning from the Robert L. Jackley funeral home. Born February 22, 1880 in Tipton county, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dunkins. She was first married to William Runyan and later married John Stephens. Survivors include the husband, two daughters, Mrs. Laura Belle Marley and Mrs. Minnie Brotherton, both of Elwood, a son, Charles Runyan, of Elwood, one sister, Mrs. Vina Anderson, of Windfall, two brothers, Robert Dunkins, of Elwood and Edward Dunkins, of Detroit. There are ten grandchildren and four great granchildren. on November 5, 1945.²

Gaunt, 68, former Portland factory employe, died Thursday morning at his home here, after an extended illness. He is survived by the widow, Iva; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas Irelan of Hartford City; one son, Natnan of Gas City; a foster daughter, Mrs. Iva Parks of Portland; one stepson, Thomas Irelan of Hartford City; six grand children and two sisters, Mrs. John Ross of Dunkirk and Mrs. Howard Bousman of Hartford City. She was a member of the Church of God. Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Deloris Harting of Elwood; one son, Douglas Marley of Rt. 3, Elwood; one step-daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Jones of Elwood; one step-son, Robert Eugene Stone of Marion; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Brotherton and one half-brother, Charles Runyon, both of Elwood; and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Dunnichay Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood City Cemetery. on September 9, 1970.⁷

     Roy Douglas Marley was buried at Elwood City Cemetery, Elwood, Madison Co., Indiana.^1,4 He was born on July 9, 1910 at Matthews, Grant Co., Indiana.^2,4 He married Laura Belle Stephens, daughter of John Lewis Stephens and Elizabeth Mae Dinkins, on February 7, 1931.^6,3 Roy Douglas Marley Roy Marley, 33, residing North Eighth street and the Fairgrounds Road, died following an attack of acute indigestion while enroute to work at the Pierce-Governor plant, at Anderson, this morning. The deceased was stricken with the attack while driving his car and occurred about one mile south of Orestes. Unable to operate the car, he made his way afoot to the home of Garland Dwiggins, at Orestes, where he succumbed before medical attention could arrive. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vance Marley, of Alexandria. He was united in marriage on Feb. 7, 1931 to Laurabelle Stevens, who survives. Surviving besides the widow, are two children, Douglas Eugene, age 12, and Delores Joan, age 10. The father and mother, and two sisters, Mrs. Ada Miller, and Mrs. Delores Bookout, all of Alexandria, also survive. The body was removed to the Roger Gipe funeral home, at Alexandria, and it later removed to the York Memorial Home, at this city, where it remains pending the completion of funeral arrangements. on September 8, 1943.³ He died on September 8, 1943 at Madison Co., Indiana, at age 33.^3,4

     Minnie Marie Runyan was buried at Elwood City Cemetery, Elwood, Madison Co., Indiana.^2,8,3 Her married name was Brotherton.¹ She was born on May 13, 1896 at Elwood, Madison Co., Indiana.^2,8,3 As of January 29, 1910,her married name was Davis.⁴ She married Clyde Thomas Davis on January 29, 1910 at Elwood, Madison Co., Indiana.^3,4,5 Minnie Marie Runyan and Clyde Thomas Davis were divorced before 1930.³ Minnie Marie Runyan married James Brotherton in 1930.^9,3 Minnie Marie Runyan died on May 9, 1971 at Elwood, Madison Co., Indiana, at age 74.^2,8,3 She ELWOOD - Mrs. Minnie Brotherton, 74, 429 N. 8th St., died at the Dickey Nursing Home Sunday. A native of Elwood, she was born May 13, 1896, a daughter of William and Elizabeth Runyan. She had resided in Elwood all of her life and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was married twice, first to Clyde Davis and Later to James Brotherton, both of whom are deceased. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Jackley-Landrum Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Elwood City Cemetery. Friends will be received today at the mortuary. Surviving are four sons, Lester Davis of North Vernon, Norman Davis of Sunbury, Ohio, Edward Davis of Tampa, Fla., and James Brotherton of Phoenix, Ariz; a brother, Charles Runyan of Elwood; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. on May 11, 1971.³

Runyan and Elizabeth Mae Dinkins, in 1930.^1,3 James Brotherton James Brotherton, 42, residing at 936 North Eleventh street, died at 11 o'clock this morning, of a complication of ailments, after a long illness. The son of George and Barbara Brotherton, he was born at Montpelier. In 1930 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Minnie Davis. Mr. Brotherton was an employe of the Illinois Pipe Line Company. He enjoyed a wide circle of friends. Surviving besides the widow are one son, James, 2 years old; four stepchildren, Norman, Lester and Edward Davis and Mrs. Francis Marion, all of Montpelier; mother, Mrs. Barbara Brotherton, of Montpelier, and one brother, Lee Brotherton, of Montpelier. The body was removed to the Clark chapel and prepared for burial. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. on October 16, 1933.¹ He died on October 16, 1933 at Elwood, Madison Co., Indiana, at age 42.^1,2

Surviving with the wife, Evelyn are two daughters, Mrs. Janet Mitchell, Atlanta, and Mrs. Pamela Miller, Tipton; two sons, Charles Runyan, Elwood, and Robert Runyan, Kokomo; five step-children, James Emery, Frankfort, Wayland and David Emery, both of Indianapolis, Donald Emery, Atlanta, and Mrs. Wilma Runyan, Elwood; 33 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Jackley-Landrum Funeral Home, Elwood, with the Rev. Leo Gill officiating. Interment will be in Elwood City Cemetery. on November 25, 1971.⁷

She was born Jan. 6, 1921 in Jay County, and lived most of her life in Madison County. Icy was a member of a C.B. Club in Elwood and was an Elwood cab driver. Survivors include a daughter, Jennie M. (Larry) Reason of Anderson; two granddaughters, Tammy (Shane) Farr of Elwood and Beckie (Steven) Mills of Greenwood; five great-grandchildren, Jason (Carolyn) Durm, T.J. (Meagan) Durm, Trista Mills, Shelly (P.J.) Powell and Hope Mills; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lavina Gaunt and her brother, Nathan Gaunt. Cremation will take place. on August 17, 2010.³
