     Claude Swanson Ridinger Jr. was born on November 29, 1938 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.² He died on July 2, 2008 at Ormond Beach, Volusia Co., Florida, at age 69.² He Claude S. Ridinger Jr., 69, passed away on July 2, 2008, in Ormond Beach, Fla., following a long illness. He was born Nov. 29, 1938, in Charleston, W.Va., and was the son of the late Margaret Spruce Ridinger and Claude S. Ridinger. He graduated from Charleston High School with the class of 1956 and from West Virginia State College. He was employed by Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Charleston and Chicago, Ill. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion. He is survived by a sister, Carol Ridinger (Scotty) Scott of Ormond Beach, Fla; and a brother, Thornton Ridinger, also of Ormond Beach; Also surviving are a niece, Catherine Ridinger of Atlanta, Ga; and nephews, Gregory Scott of Richmond, Va., Jeffrey Ridinger of Normal, Ill., and Michael Ridinger of Edwardsville, Ill; as well as three great-nieces and two great-nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at Christ Presbyterian Church, 1035 West Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach, with the Rev. Polly Deppen officiating. on July 11, 2008.²

He is survived by one son, Merle W. Wood, Salem; two daughters, Nancy W. Cecil, Salem; Mrs. Richard L. (Charlotte W.) Gordon, Salem; three grandchildren, which include step-granddaughter Michelle Renee Gordon, grandson, William Russell Zimmerman; granddaughter, Brandy Nichole Gordon, all of Salem; one brother, Roy Thomas Wood, Salem. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. on May 13, 1985.⁶
