     Linwood Harold "Sam" Hamlett Linwood H. “Sam” Hamlett, age 91, of 522 Holland Road, Pelham, died peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, April 5, 2011. Born October 16, 1919 in Caswell County, NC, he was the son of the late Oliver Stokes Hamlett and Josie Lee Wade Hamlett. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII. Mr. Hamlett was a Constable and Deputy for 28 years for the Caswell County Sheriff’s Department. In addition, he served two terms as Caswell County Commissioner and was a founding member of the Pelham Volunteer Fire Department. He was a charter member of Stateline Baptist Church. Mr. Hamlett’s wife, Irene Vaden Hamlett, predeceased him in December 2009. Survivors include one son: Brian K. Hamlett of Danville; one brother: Rev. Billy Hamlett of Hickory, NC. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, Linwood H. Hamlett, Jr., and Barry Lynn Hamlett. Funeral services officiated by Rev. Wayne Wallace and Rev. Leonard Watlington will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Hamlett Family Cemetery.      Eddie Lee Hite Sr. Eddie Lee Hite, Sr., age 73, died at his residence on Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Eddie left for his Heavenly home to be in the presence of God after a long battle with cancer and COPD disease. Eddie was born in Pittsylvania County on June 17, 1938. He was the son of the late Robert Hite and and late Vera Hite Myers. Eddie was raised by his grandparents, the late Marion Hite and the late Beatrice Vaden Hite. He lived most of his life in the Ringgold community. He was married to Alice Faye Griffin Hite. Mr. Hite was of the Baptist faith. He was honorably discharged from the US Army 101st Airbourne Division. Survivors include his wife of the residence; one daughter, Tammy Kaye Hite Sexton and husband, Wayne, of Travelers Rest, SC; two sons; Eddie L. Hite, Jr. and wife, Kristy Lucas Hite, of Ringgold, VA and Douglas Wayne Hite and wife, Robin Ann Hite, of Madison, NC., and one granddaughter, Lindsey Elizabeth Hite of Ringgold. He also leaves behind a loving brother, James Wall of Ringgold, and a loving sister, Martha Warren, of Danville. The family would like to send a special "Thanks" to all of the doctors and nurses at the V.A. Hospital in Durham, NC, Commonwealth Hospice, and special friends and neighbors of Mr. Hite. Memorial services, officiated by the Rev. Eddie Hite, Jr., and the Rev. Wayne Wallace, will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at State Line Baptist Church, 651 Holland Road, Danville, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service and at other times, at the residence, 1201 Ferguson Road,Ringgold, VA.      Marion Lee Motley was born on May 24, 1943 at Danville, Virginia.⁴ As of September 13, 1956,her married name was Hite.¹ She married Eddie Lee Hite Sr., son of Robert Lee Hite and Vera Lois Gentry, on September 13, 1956 at Pittsylvania Co., Virginia.^1,2 Marion Lee Motley and Eddie Lee Hite Sr. were divorced on September 16, 1959 at Pittsylvania Co., Virginia.¹ Marion Lee Motley died on June 26, 2004 at Danville, Virginia, at age 61.³
