Mr. Mackey was a lifelong resident of Ronceverte, member of the Baptist faith, U.S. Army veteran, lifelong member of Shryock Lodge #47 A.F. & A.M. which has recently merged with Monroe Lodge #77 A.F. & A.M., Past Potentate of Beni-Kedem Temple, Charleston, and was retired from the Federal Reserve System. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Charles D. Mackey, in 1985. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Hanna Mackey of Ronceverte; two sons, Brian H. Mackey of Orange, Va., and Stephen Mackey and wife, Sherry, of Nashville, Tenn; and two grandchildren, Leo M. Mackey and Ava Jane Mackey of Nashville, Tenn. Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at the Clifton Presbyterian Church, Maxwelton, with the Rev. Janice Johnson officiating. Burial to follow in the Riverview Cemetery, Ronceverte, with Masonic graveside rites conducted by Monroe Lodge #77 A.F. & A.M. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at the Longanacre Funeral Home, Fairlea, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charlie Mackey Memorial Park, c/o Clifton Presbyterian Church, PO Box 200, Maxwelton, WV 24957. Mackey and another youth were riding bicycles on a side road when Mackey turned onto the highway and was struck by a pickup truck, according to the accident report. No charges were filed against the driver of the truck, the spokesman said. on May 19, 1985.3
