Born Oct. 27, 1938, in Gauley Bridge, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late John C. and Sarah Coleman Hudnall. She married Riley "Harry" Adkins on Nov. 2, 1956, and the couple moved to Tuscarawas County shortly afterward. Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved gardening, especially growing flowers. She also enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. Betty was a member of the Maranatha Bible Church at Somerdale. Survivors include five daughters, Debbie (Russell) Breeding of Virginia Beach, Va., Donna (Jerry) Menges of Mineral City, Brenda (Edward) Christian and Sandra Amerine, both of Dover, and Gilda (Dale) Sampson of Monroe Falls; a son, Dwayne (Melanie) Adkins of Mineral City; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two expected great-grandchildren; three sisters, Shelva Sims of Dover, Susie Bay and Dreama Watkins, both of New Philadelphia; six brothers, John C. and Michael Hudnall, both of New Philadelphia, Carroll Wayne Hudnall and Ricky Hudnall, both of Dover, Bruce Hudnall of Dundee, Roger Hudnall of Cairo, W.Va; two half-sisters, Freda Jennings of Summersville, W.Va., and Ruth Mullins of Lake Havasau City, Ariz; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, in 1994; and a brother, Darrell Hudnall. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 18, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia with Pastor Richard Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. on March 15, 2002.3

Born Oct. 18, 1940, in Gauley Bridge, W.Va., he was a son of the late John C. and Sarah Louise Coleman Hudnall. Mr. Hudnall was affiliated with the Shenango Penn Mold Company for 15 years and for the past 17 years at Dover Machine Company. John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, singing, playing guitar, cooking, gardening, fishing, camping, and hunting. Survivors include his wife of nearly 45 years, the former Marilyn J. Young; a stepson, Michael Ragan; grandchildren, Chaia and Tommy Vosick; brothers, Carroll Hudnall of Dover, Mike Hudnall of New Philadelphia and Bruce (Juanita) Hudnall of Dover, Roger Hudnall and wife Cathy and Ricky Hudnall and wife Mary, both of New Philadelphia; sisters, Shelva (Ray) Sims of Dover, Suzie (Noel) Bays of New Philadelphia, Dreama (Rich) Watkins of New Philadelphia, Freda (J.T.) Jennings of West Virginia and Ruth (John) Mullins of Nevada; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Vosick; a brother, Darrell Hudnall; and a sister, Betty Adkins. Friends are invited to call Monday morning, May 23, 2005, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, where Mr. Hudnall's nephew, The Rev. Dave Snider, will officiate a funeral ceremony at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Dover Burial Park where Glenn Shedlock will conduct the graveside committal service. Those unable to attend are invited to send condolences to the family and view an online memorial to Mr. Hudnall by visiting the funeral home's Web site.
