Lorene was a retired Registered Nurse for the former St. Luke Hospital, Fort Thomas. She volunteered for many years for the Salvation Army, attended Florence United Methodist Church and she enjoyed gardening and restoring small antique objects. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Free in 1977; her parents, Elmer Dale and Nannie Belle Ratliff Lewis; and her siblings, Helen Ruark, Hazel Faulkner, Carla Lewis, Dorothy Hunter and James Lewis. Surviving is her daughter, Karen (David) Kitz; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and a host of extended family members.4 She was buried at Hebron Lutheran Cemetery, 3090 Limaburg Road, Hebron, Boone Co., Kentucky.4,8 Her married name was Free.4 She married Robert Edward Free.4 Vivian Lorene Lewis was born on September 16, 1927 at Kaymoor, Fayette Co., West Virginia.3,9,4 She died on February 12, 2021 at Hebron, Boone Co., Kentucky, at age 93.4

She was born November 30, 1929, in Beckley, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Elmer Dale and Nannie Belle Ratliff Lewis. Hazel was a member of the Vanceburg Christian Church and the Vanceburg Historical Society. She enjoyed traveling and reading. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Orah Faulkner; one brother, Elmer "Buddy" Lewis; and one sister, Helen Ruark. Hazel is survived by three sisters, Lorene Free of Hebron, Kentucky, Carla Lewis of Florence, Kentucky, and Dorothy Hunter of Vanceburg, Kentucky; two special nieces who cared for her during her sickness, Patsy Lewis and Carolyn Kinney; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her. Burial will follow in the Lewis County Memory Gardens in Vanceburg, Kentucky.3 She was born on November 30, 1929 at Fayetteville, Fayette Co., West Virginia.2,3,8 As of circa 1946,her married name was Faulkner.3 She married Orah Edwin Faulkner circa 1946.3,8,9 Hazel Dale Lewis died on August 18, 2016 at Maysville, Mason Co., Kentucky, at age 86.3

     Dorothy Lee Lewis Dorothy Lee Lewis Hunter - A daughter of the late Elmer Dale Lewis and Nannie Belle Ratliff Lewis, Dottie has been reunited in heaven with her husband, Howard David Hunter, who passed away July 11, 1981. In addition to Dave and her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer "Buddy" Lewis and three sisters, Hazel Faulkner, Carla Lewis and Helen Ruark. Her greatest joy in life were her four boys! She loved to recall all the things that boys do and how much she loved being their mom. She was a fiercely loyal and loving. She is survived by Jeffrey A. Hunter of Portsmouth, Brian & Crystal Hunter of West Portsmouth, Rusty & Lisa Hunter of Circleville, and Kelly & Cathy Hunter of Sciotoville; one sister, Loreen Free of Hebron, KY; seven grandsons, 6 step-granddaughters, and a host of great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Dottie was a member of the Vanceburg Christian Church and Vanceburg Historical Society. She enjoyed making "corn cuddlers" to keep us all warm and soothe our aches away. She declared her affection through poetry and was an avid reader of the Bible. Word puzzles were never in short supply around Mama Dot. And at the last, she was serenaded home by Bluegrass and Gospel music, her favorites. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park.2 She was buried at Memorial Burial Park, Wheelersburg, Scioto Co., Ohio.7,2 Her married name was Hunter.2 She married Howard David Hunter.2 Dorothy Lee Lewis was born on October 21, 1939 at Lewis Co., Kentucky.2,6 She died on November 9, 2018 at Circleville, Pickaway Co., Ohio, at age 79.2

Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. on July 23, 2006.1
