     Sandy Richard Puckett was buried at Ward Cemetery, Horse Pasture, Henry Co., Virginia.2 He was born on June 6, 1950 at Martinsville, Virginia.2 He died on March 15, 2009 at Taipei, Taiwan, at age 58.2 He Sandy Richard Puckett, 58, formerly of Spencer, died March 15, 2009 at his home in Taipei, Taiwan. He was born in Martinsville on June 6, 1950 and was a son of Florence Puckett of Spencer and the late Elbert Clayton Puckett. He graduated from Drewry Mason High School in 1968 and from the College of William and Mary in 1972, where he received a bachelor's degree in math, then received his master's degree in mathematics from Western Carolina University. He had been a member of the OKT fraternity since 1969. Mr. Puckett joined the Peace Corps in 1972 and taught school in Lesotho, Africa. He returned to Martinsville in 1974 and worked for Social Services. He also taught school in Jackson County, N.C., for more than nine years. Drom 1983 to 1985, he taught at the American school at The Hague in the Netherlands. During this period, he also exhibited his art works and paintings. He had been teaching at the American School in Taipei since 1991. During his lifetime, he visited more than 30 foreign countries. He also wrote and published children's books. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are one brother, Clay Puckett of Spencer, and one nephew. Funeral services were conducted Monday at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home by the Rev. Douglas Ramsey. Burial was in the Ward family cemetery in Spencer. Pallbearers were Gregg Franklin, Gary Franklin, Charles Perdue, Stan Vosper, John Salop, Greg Phillips, Morris Puckett, Jerry Ward, Ricky Belton, Brandon Shivley, Steve Puckett and Alan Ward. on April 1, 2009.2
