Lacks, Sr. and wife, Karen; very loved grandmother, Lizzie "Nanny" Lacks; devoted and special sister, Tammie "Sissy" Frate and husband, Tom; special nephew, Nathan; sister, Rhonda Finney and husband, David; niece and nephew, Kayla and Darrius; sister, Elizabeth Scott and husband, Timmy; baby sister, Kimberly Hagy; three brothers, Jonathan, Robert "Bubba", and Toby Lacks; sister-in-law and friend, Pandora Wolfe; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and wonderful friends including best friend, Greg Muncey and his son, Gregory Jr; his beloved pets, Dreamer, Wallaby, and Cally. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Rev. Elmer D. Clemons and Chaplain Marvin Barbre officiating. Interment will follow in Troutville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchan. on January 6, 2004.2

Born May 5, 1959 in Lexington, Va., she was the daughter of the late Roland Edward Thornton and Wylene Carder. She married Roy Nathan Lacks, Jr. on June 10, 2003. Juanita was employed as a cook for the Brian Center Nursing Home. Mrs. Lacks was preceded in death by her father and by a nephew, Christopher Thornton. She is survived by her mother, Wylene Carder of Covington and husband, Roy N. Lacks, Jr; a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Tony Spence; two sisters, Pandora and husband Wayne Wright and Doris and husband Russell Paxton; and her grandson, Terrell Thornton, all of Troutville; and a special nephew, C. J. Thornton. Also surviving are her mother-in-law, Sheila Hagy of Roanoke; her father-in-law, Roy Lacks, Sr. and wife Karen; and grandmother-in-law, Lizzie Lacks all of Troutville; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at Rader Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Good Samaritan Hospice, 3825-A Electric Rd. SW, Roanoke, Va. 24018. on November 18, 2003.1
